If I am right, the 2.0 VXT engine (Z20LET I think?) has a recirculating diverter valve, and a similar setup to the 1.8T Audi engine e.g MAF etc. It's commonly known that you can upgrade the standard Audi Diverter Valve with a faster moving piston-type valve (normally from Forge Motorsport or AmD), which improves throttle response and gives a smoother delivery of power. I've seen a few Dump(blow off) Valves availble for the VX, but if the VX lump is like the Audi lump, it will not respond well to them and will just end up knackering the MAF. So... is there a replacement Diverter Valve for the VX that is trusted and proved? Or is the VX DV good enough that it doesn't need to be upgraded? TIA :) Kevin

im affraid i dont know the answer to your question but i have read a few peoples posts that have installed a baileys DV that have taken them off again because performance decreased. have a search dont even know what a Diverter Valve is so hopefully someone else can answer that. thumbsup

Hi Joe

DV's come in two flavours. The Recirculation type (known as a Diverter Valve) are fitted to cars that use an Mass AirFlow meter (MAF sensor) such as the VXT and Audi 1.8T cars. Then there are Atmospheric types (known as a Dump Valve or Blow Off Valve) which dump all their air into the atmosphere (that woooosh noise). The Dump/Blow off valve is not closed loop so the ECU loses track of whats going on, and that's what causes the problems on MAF equipped cars. Baily DV's are normally 'Dump' valves, so that is why they had problems/performance issues if they fitted one to a VXT.

Diverter valves recirculate the air which keeps things constant and easily monitored. The thing with OEM Diverter valves is they are not normally very quick, so to replace it with a faster moving piston Diverter Valve, will not only improve throttle response, but will also give a smother delivery of power. :)

Cheers
Kevin

Thanks John. I thought that might be the case 'cos i've not seen any of the tuners offering it. thumbsup
