Also w.r.t. the rear wheels issue, I purchased two replacement rears earlier in the year, both of which have the P.T. stamp not the H.T. one. One of these is now on the car following a puncture. Following Thorney's post I'm assuming I can just trade the P.T. wheels in for new ones even though I will not receive a letter from vxl. Has anyone else been in a similar situation.

Finally what does P.T. stand for?

Many thanks in anticipation

Wayne

Where did you get the wheels from?

If you bought from vauxhall, then I'd imagine they'd exchange them. But I wouldn't have thought they were under any obligation if you'd bought from another source.

If you got them second hand off another vx, I'd speak to the recall place before rocking up to a dealer as you may find they'll want proof that you are due the recall before even checking the wheels.

There is quite an alarming cracked and pretty buggered connection, is this the one in question?

I spoke to a lady called kimberly at the helpline first .... We agreed it would be better to discuss the blackness issue with customer care before going to the dealer.... One of their managers is having a think about it atm  And yes they are painted.....will let you know Smiler ;)

Coco....so do you have black LY wheels with no HT stamp?

Warranty makes no difference these are recalls so the warranty period is immaterial.

and niether does mine.

Do the recalls have to be done by a VX220 dealer or can they be done by and vauxhall dealer... my local Vx dealer has really been helpful with this.

I've just dropped my car in at the dealers for the recall work, I had a look through the instructions they have for the wheels and hose. The hose appears to be the entire length. The instructions for the wheels state at the top "FOR SILVER WHEELS ONLY" and tell the mechanic to look for "HT" on the wheels next to the two raised rectangles, If it does not say HT in this position then the wheels are to be replaced :)

Right Im quite confused now as Ive had a letter, my car doesnt have silver wheels, but neither does it have HT on them,

Oh and the brake servo thing was on there either......

I haven't discussed my painted (on 15th June!) wheels with them yet. I'm going to see what they say tomoz when I take the car in, but somehow I can see my Reg having to spray the new ones!

Ive spoken to a different Dealership now. Lass on the desk was much more helpful. She is checking out the black status as well......

Servo hose is definite replacement and they have had two other LYs in and they dont have HT and as far as they are aware they are being replaced... although they didnt know of the issue of not being able to get the correct colour....

Tashyboy receives a letter this morning for the rear alloy change. Rings vauxhaul helpline and speaks to Suzanne ( Who sounds fit), tells me it not take long to check wheels. Ring Derby ( Pentagon & book in for this friday). They ask for ref no on back off recall letter. Then read 220 org and 14 pages of recall info including BRAKE HOSE  eh werd that come from. Then ring vauxhaul helpline " Suzanne, Hmmmmmm" ask "Whats that all about" wi the brakes, How do I know if mine needs checking, Then told off Suzy, Yeh yours needs checkin. eh. Why was'nt I told. Not bitchin or owt but if I'm drivin to Derby (25) mile away I'd sooner do it once. Rings back Derby, tells em vauxhaul reckon brake hose needs checkin, but I don't have recall letter. Derby tell me it Don't matter re letter. & can check both @ same time. Conclusion, Never been one for Hysteria, but wazzed off, Yup big style, learnt more off here than 4x phone calls to vauxhaul personnel. No one on here or anywere else in the world is going to convince me that if you ring up to book your car in re rear alloy check, common sense and customer relations etc etc, tells you that they could sort of mention we'll check your brake hose as well whilst its in, Whether it is a safety issue or not, however Vauxhaul want to "Terminology " use there words for any sort of recall. Having said that. Tashyboy sees this as a win win situation. 1, Tash yer wheels and brake hose are ok, thumbsup , = winna & jobs a fish. 2, Tash yer wheels and brakes are knackered so we fitted yer new uns thumbsup ,= Winna & jobs a shiny rear wheel :D fish

Tashyboy, I'm almost cast iron 100% certain that if you have the letter the wheels will need doing. And If they try to wiggle, INSIST that the brakes get done too. Mine has a recall/work notice against it now.....so it will HAVE to be done IMO. ;)

Saw a letter from Vauxhall the other day but I stuck it in the recycling. Assumed it was another flyer!! I called the tech center and they gave me wheels and vacuum hose as well so I will call my dealer now and see how I get on. It's lucky.....I very nearly replaced the hose myself!

Right Grimshaws of Manchester have check with vauxhall and yes, the lightening yellow wheels are to be checked and if they are without HT they will be replaced. Very effecient, super impressed, the parts have been ordered for the brake hose as well. :)

Got my letter this moring but just wondered about the VIN number for some strange reason (maybe I'm physic) and sure enough it was for my old 2.2 VX that I wrote off. (Cat D, which I believe has now been repaired and is back on the road)

Ring Vauxhall and discover that my present VX is still registered with the previous owner. I've had it 2 years :beat: and I've had loads of warranty work done on it so they should know which one it is. :beat:

also this means that the new owner of my old VX will never know about a dodgy Vacumn hose. :o

Anyway she said just to book it in anyway. I noticed Crownhill had the wrong VIN number too but i didn't want to confuse them so i just kept quiet. :)

BTW the letter reads a little confusingly in that at one point it says the brake hose needs replacing and at another point it talks about the dealer 'checking' it.

Is it definitly a replacement or just replace if it looks as though it has a problem???

P.S. VXR in Crownhill MK today. Anyones?

Interesting I haven't received a letter yet but is anyones vin higher than 3692 and need the wheels doing?
