John, are you able to start taking bookings to get these things looked at? or do you have to wait until Vauxhall contact you first?

If you can, I'll call you immediately thumbsup

I've got rear alloys on the front as well :( Would be good if Thorney or someone could confirm if the 7.5J thing is definitely the way to tell if they need replacing or not (once TMS is notified of the recall, that is!)

The local dealers in Wantage confirmed that the code to look for is 7.5J, he read the letter out over the phone. Just my luck - the car is at home so I cant check it until the weekend, by that time any excess stock will have gone - and the car is booked in to be sprayed on Thursday  They won't order the wheels unless they have checked the code. He also mentioned something about HT being marked on them though

Good to see people aren't panicking about this! If they're going to change rear alloys, we're going to be waiting months. And no doubt if everyone books in to have the hose changed, the wait for that is going to be months too. As I understand it so far, only certain batches of rear alloys need replacing, so I wouldn't go buying tyres with a view to getting them fitted foc. And I don't think that there's much need for panic if they're only going to replace the ends of the vacuum hose - the part running down the sill is still just as likely to collapse. So I don't think that getting it done in the next few days is going to somehow miraculously stop you smashing your vx up because the brakes failed. I'm much more concerned why they think that changing the ends of the servo hose is going to sort things. Out of sight, out of mind???? edit to say my dealer won't book me in for mine for a 'few weeks' till they get all the info together

Just phoned them regarding my 2001 N/A and spoke to chap called Dan. He stated they had had quite a lot of calls today and passed him my chassis number. He then asked me to confirm the number from the car as well, which I did. He then stated that amazingly I was the first one that he'd dealt with today that didn't have any recalls listed against it. Much to my surprise.

Like most, I've not got a recall letter yet.

I know it's also a bit too soon for it to appear on VOSA recalls website if it's only raised yesterday, but I bl**dy hope they do put it on there, as there will be many owners who don't read this forum.

>>VOSA recalls<<

The only official VX recalls on there currently are:

# Launch Date Recalls Number Make Model(s) Concern VIN Start VIN End Build Start Build End

1 09/09/2002 R/2002/086 VAUXHALL VX220 front brake caliper bolts concern WOLOEAR971N000001 WOLOEAR972N003648

2 09/09/2002 R/2002/082 VAUXHALL VX220 drivers air bag concern WOLOEAR971N000001 WOLOEAR972N003648

I hope Vauxhall get their arses in gear and sort all this out asap. Come on Vauxhall, make us proud! :P

Yeah sorry,
Didn't mean anyone to panic about it  . Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware! It was just a very random coincidance that I happened to call them just as the re-call had been announced, I thought it was something that everyone had missed :)

Surely all std NA rear wheels are 7.5J? As in 17x7.5J? Blimey, if dealers are going on the 7.5J code then Vauxhall will be replacing a fair few rims! :D

So presumably all cars in a certain batch / age range will need their rears changed (i.e. the ones that are listed on the recalls database) and the 7.5J is just to ensure the dealers only change the rears and don't get confused with the re-call and change the fronts too
