Mine's booked in for both - from what I could see looking over the guy's shoulder, the brake hose recall affects all build numbers up to something in the 7000 range, and the wheel recall affects all build numbers up to something in the high 3000 range (39xx I think).

Interesting, looks like I might just miss out on the wheels as mine is the 4000s. Will check my wheels for the HT mark tomorrow as they're taking up space in my dad's garage at the moment :P

I've got a case open with Vaux customer service.

The best outcome is that they replace the rears, then pay to have ALL four wheels powder coated so that they match.

I shall keep you updated as soon as I hear.

re: servo pipe - good news that VX are aware of problem and will replace FOC... I hope their supplier is using something stronger this time :beat: .... or I will supply some proper pipe for dealer to fit !! (for those that don't already know, it may just look split at the end.. but the inner wall has probably collapsed most of it's entire length, especially on bends... hence very dangerous.... and hence no doubt the formal recall....)

Note... I was told by customer services that.... The wheels are a RECALL..... the pipe is a REWORK.... apparently the pipe is less serious than the wheels..... go figure.

The pipe is arguably less dangerous - even if it completely disintegrates or falls off, you still have non-servo-assisted braking, so it's not like you lost all ability the brake the car. The most dangerous bit really is if the pedal starts off hard and then the pipe starts vacuuming properly again, causing the brakes to suddenly apply sharply. However, if the wheel disintegrates, you are going to crash. With the older NAs, there's a good chance the car would be written off, and as with any crash, there's danger to the occupants as well...

no mention of hub carrier bolts... ? i agree with the servo hose, theoretically it could cause rough running if the hose is leaking at the engine side (Did on previous cars i owned), guess we will have to wait to see if they replace the full length, tbh i think id rather replace the hose myself....

As I understand Thorney's thread, the intention isn't to replace the hose, just either end, which seems to defeat the point entirely.

After re-reading the original thread on the wheels from speedyk, it would appear that in Switz, the whole hose has been replaced (4 hour job), rather than a quick bodge job.

I would suggest you re-read Johns post then....it's as clear as day that the whole pipe will be replaced....

My hose looks knackered near the engine, prob due to heat and bending and where it is froced over the cylinder thing in the front. Inside the sill is a long straight run with no heat, so maybe OK. Like someone said nice shiny new back wheels :D $hitty old fronts poof how much does anyone reckon it would be to have fronts resprayed? Are this style of wheel available in 16" which everyone seems raves about?

If mine need replacing (I dont think they will, fingers crossed) I will be insisting on a set of LY wheels and my fronts done to match. Given how long vaux have known about this problem.... and they allowed us to happily drive around with dangerous wheels, its the least they can do

Personally, I don't think its as clear as day light from this:

BRAKE SERVO HOSE

This is not considered a safety recall but is still important to get it done. We all know of the issue but now Vauxhall have decided to officially sort it, its basically where the servo hose splits at the end, Vauxhall have deiced to replace

Nor given that you've already said that Vaux have only replaced the ends of yours and JamesGrey's hoses when they know there's a recall imminent (they appear to have known in Switz for some months), does it suggest that vauxhall are going to replace the whole pipe when they've only quoted a job time of 90 minutes.

I apologise if I've jumped to wild conclusions there, but I think GM may take more than a small hit if they have to fork out for 4hrs labour plus parts for the 3000 odd vx/speedsters affected. I just naturally assumed that like any major company they will try getting out of anything if possible
