Well to be fair to the panic-ers if you were to pick 2 things to cause panic I can't think of a better way: your wheels are going to snap and your brakes will break at any moment. Surely the reason for the crazy panic was the fact that instead of some isolated posts on a forum showing a broken wheel, Vauxhall have admitted a fault and that sends a shiver of panic down even my relaxed spine.

I can't speak for everyone else, but i'm not really panicing. I'm just excited about getting shiny new wheels. Annoyingly my chassis number is 3997 so it looks like vx haven't put me down for new wheels - I'm going to go outside with my fingers crossed and check though :D

Nae panic here, car is in bits waiting on the new radiatior being fitted. I will wait until I get the letter then contact the dealer to get the car seen to. As Thorney says, "nothing has changed on your car since yesterday". If there is a shortage of replacement wheels or vacuum pipes then I will just have to wait. Now if it had been a recall on the radiator then that would be a different kettle of fish!

it simply means you'll get a hard brake pedal under repeated use which will subside as you ease off the brakes.

Apparently a standard rear wheel is £248! So they're looking at £500 per car! Not to mention potential costs for powder coating to get LY wheels.

Don't worry too much about Vauxhall - they're unlikely to be baring the costs. If it's a manufacturing fault with the wheel the wheel supplier will have to pay. Same with the hose. If it's Vauxhalls fault (ie incorrectly spec'd) they will have to pay out. They maybe insured, or more likely it will come out of the "recall fund" - a pot of money allocated to this sort of thing as costed into the price of the vehicle. It's the wheel and pipe manufacturer you should feel for - it's possible they're not insured(many cannot afford it if they are small). Many will simply opt to go bust and reform under a different name. Therefore the cost of the wheels will be whatever they can make them for - the labour is the big hitter... That's why recalls take so long to happen - lots of "blame storming" about who's fault it is and who's going to pay before anything can be done. In the end the VM's will pass as much of the costs down the food chain to the little guys as they can...

hmmm, Paul at Baylis looked at my car last week and said the hose needed replacing which would be done under warranty. Dropped it off this morning and was told that suregaurd weren't going to pay. Apparently the warranty doesnt cover hoses? Told them it was a recent recall but they said they hadn't been informed? What can I do?

i doubt they have 200 wheels in stock to powder coat, let alone 5000+ for all the other NA's

Great news. I can have my servo hose replaced properly this time. Drive Vauxhall replaced mine with a new piece of hose which terminates under the dashboard and has a screw shoved up it to prevent a vacuum leak.

however many it is, vauxhall must should have a plan with approx number needed. Even if it was 500 cars, they would need 1000 wheels..... My money is on another batch being made

Build Number: 0885 Getting both of these recalls done in August when it gets serviced. I notified them in plenty time so that they would have all the parts in when it goes in so everything can be done at once. Whether or not that will actually happen is anyones guess!

I strongly suspect all they'll do is look to see if your wheels are in the correct batch - then order them, so you'll prob still be waiting months. :(

Dont panic me but when its ya pride an joy mentioned I'm goona take a few mins to check the car and call the recall number, Thanks Mandarin and all involved in forwardin 'the word'! Just to advise, dont all run out and remove the rear wheels or jump on ya back and drag your body under the car (like i did), get yer g'friends vanity mirror etc and slide it between the spokes of ya rear wheel, hey presto! I was told by the lady we shall all recieve letters(if affected) in the next week or so! Sayin that, i ordered me engine mounts 2.5 weeks ago!! Still waitin! :beat:

Are there any caveats to the cars on re-call, like if they are in oro out of warranty, if the have been serviced at VX dealers etc? Or is this a global recall on any VX out there that fits the criteria of vin number and wheel type?
