So your wheels have HT on them? If correct, then that must imply that those wheels WITHOUT HT need changing?

to be honest I aint having it... I looked and couldnt see it anywhere...I iwll check again tonight. But i am 99.9% confident that it hasnt... Are the HT wheels both PT and HT (iam assuming its pressure treated and heat treated??? Cant see the point in that.... I ask him to show me and he said he couldnt let me in the workshop

had a phonecall from the service manager today... who basically shrugged it off, said it was a misunderstanding. " I had unrealistic expectations" and it was also vauxhall fault for not specifying they required the locking wheel nut.

They also said at the time they hadn't heard from anyone else about this problem

Oh yes they have as I phoned them last week to ask about the recall and was told the letters were going out in the next one to two weeks.

We finished the conversation along the lines of me telling him that i needed to have confident in the dealer i was using and that i would trust them with a 1.0l corsa never mind my VX. :flame: They told blatent lies...... I would really recommend people not to go there.

Right im really pissed off so if this does make sense forgive me......

I book the car in tell them they can have it for two days, no real rush. Take it down wednesday night. So they start work on the car at 1pm friday??? How does that figure.... they now want the locking wheel nut, which i really cant see the need for.... so I say, its not going to be ready for today is it, even though i told them i wanted it for the w.e. She (stupid arrogant bitch) says well you said "no rush" So then the mechanic nothing to do with me, starts going on about locking wheel nuts... what if you have a blowout etc... I said whell it doesnt have a spare.. thats why have premium RAC cover. He says but its not safe to drive round without it because you cant remove the wheel. I dont even have any tools in the car to remove it even if i was inclined toi????

I explained that i understood that it was the 1st one they are doing but to sit on it for 1 and 1/2 days takes the p*ss.... they have been "very busy" wouldnt have even minded if it over ran and they had spent the last few hrs working on it.

She doesnt understand why i am annoyed and even states partway through the convo that im being un reasonable....

At the end of our public debate (no service mgr, no dealer principle present. surprise surprise) When would i like to book it in again?????

Apprently my wheels say HT on them, which i certianly couldnt see.... Im sure they say PT but i will check again.

Seriously guys, the grease monkey who is 'qualified' to work on the VXs at the dealership is one of the thickest techs i have ever come across....

Safe to say I will never be paying grimshaws a visit again.. so some unfortunate VX owner will be their guinea pig.

Things haven't changed then... shocking the way they treat people at Grimshaws... just not interested at all!

The fat controller mechanic would be Noel i guess and the service manager is the short scottish guy Dave Clarke... both totally useless and completely uninterested! They basically told me on on a couple of warranty issues they aint doing them because they are a pain to carry out and take to long and vauxhall dont pay them enough!!?? On another job, i ended up getting the parts again and ended up fixing it myself! They also fobbed me off on the paint bubbleing issue, saying your cars had a bump mate sorry... got it sorted eventually with the help of Stuart Harris thumbsup

I would never take my car to them again, or buy a car from them ever..

My car would either got to TMS or Plans...

Cheers

Nick

Yep dave clarke.. abysmal (Im embarassed that someone would put such a person in a management position). and the mechanic was dreadful, but didnt catch his names, but by all accounts they only have one to work on VXs. On the plus side, the expierence i had with Ormskirk on the phone was miles better. TMS and plans are just so far away from the NW. This is likely to be the cars last visit to vauxhall anyhow. wonder who the MD on grimshaws is as they arent a big network....

Grimshaws is family run, MD is Alan Grimshaw See here

I am willing to contribute to any joint complaint about their service standards, although I think multiple letters saying the same thing will probably have more effect.

I've always tried to hold back in criticism of their staff, because I hadn't realised there was another option in the NW (ie Ormskirk), and you never know who reads this site ;) , but I'm strangely reassured by the fact that everyone else has had the same experiences as me with Grimshaws.

My car is going back to them to have the rattle sorted that Noel managed to create after fitting new engine mounts (presume undertray, airbox or expansion tank loose) but I thik I'll try and get the waranty work done at Ormskirk, if people feel they're to be recommended

I will draft a letter tomorrow to Mr Grimshaw, as the expierence of going there was worse than when renault manchester damaged my megane resulting in a new rear wing. I will post it up. Convict, ormskirk where instantly more professional. They arent down on the Vauxhall site as VX220 specialist.

They certainly used to be one of the two VX approved dealers in Lancashire.

Hi guys, I can vouch for Grimshaws, Eccles incompetents. Dreadful service, rude staff and they show complete lack of care for their customers and their cars. After having various issues with them over the years I took my car to Grimshaws, Prestwich for it's service last year. They were great in comparison. I arrived first thing to be told the courtesy car allocated to me had been vandalised the prevoius evening and so the service manager lent me his Vectra!!! I was stunned! Furthermore, they serviced the car properly without damaging it or racking up hundreds of miles. So.... I have booked my car into Prestwich for the servo hose recall and 3rd service tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed..... Just thought... I hope they don't drive the car to Eccles to have the work done! LOL! Cheers Jay

I took my LY to Grimshaws - Prestwich branch - car came out of service with more problems than it went in with!!!! Never went back - then went to Blakes in Chesterfield - frankly not a lot better. They are no longer VXR dealers so now having to go to Grasmere Crewe - for recalls and new clam under warranty. Had no dealings with them so do not know what to expect. Up to now they have been efficient in keeping me up to date with delivery times etc. Anyone with any experience of them? One thing that seems to be abundantly clear is that the car is too specialised for most dealers who's bread and butter are corsas and Zafiras etc. I would have preferred to have the option to take mine to a Lotus dealer, but manufacturers don't work like that do they even though it was built for them!!

I can safely say I will avoid Grimshaws after reading this! Can anyone recommand another dealer near Rochdale? Every car I have owned I have always had to travel to get decent services from the stealers. Anyone used JCT600 in Bradford? Or Nidd Vale in Harrogate?

I've had all my services done at Grimshaws. Sadly they are awful. I've posted it before, but the morons overtightened my oil pot lid, now every time I want to do an interim oil change I have to take the whole upper half of the canister off and stick the filter into the lid. This happened at the first 10,000 mile service. I asked them to sort it at the 20,000 & 30,000 service...no joy. As it went in for the 40,000 mile service (second trip, first time they hadn't kept me a courtesy car...though I'd booked one...one wasted journey to Eccles...not even a sorry...amazing!), I stated that this problem, caused by them had not been rectified on the previous 2 services despite my requests. I was assured that it would be sorted this time. When I picked the car up I asked if the job had been done....she said "It's on the job list, it WILL have been done". I just did my 45,000 mile oil change...can you guess??? GRIMSHAWS=USELESS

My car had been booked in at Grimshaws for the 30th for them to sort my sticking bonnet catch, but after reading this I'm now booked in at Ormskirk! God bless the Internet - let's vote with our feet on Grimshaws! Ken
