well I put the Elise coded Bridgestones on last time as they were delivered in error but I phoned Bridgestone who told me that unless you were racing the car on sprints etc then I wouldn't notice the difference and 4000miles later I can confirm the car feels, stops and goes just the same.

If you dont insist on the correct DOT code you could end up with one VX tyre on one side and an Elise or worse on the other, surely no one would want that. I ended up with this and Bridgstone insisted it was a no no and offered to sort it out with the garage.

So unless you are pushing the car the tyres will behave the same? Makes perfect sense to me. To put it another way - the tyres will be fine until they start to let go - then you may have problems.

Another word of wisdom for the 'F1's are great crew,' if you put a tyre with more grip on the rear, the front will slide first - you are creating understeer. Odd not many with different tyres front to rear mention that :beat:

I have fitted F1's to the rear and they handle really well. they look a lot better than the Bridgestones too.

Er...they're a thin strip of rubber around a wheel...how exactly do they look any better??

JJ

he is refering to the tread pattern, and yeah they look like a better tyre cos thats what they are, have a better feel in the wet to, due to the aqua pattern ..

Thanks Billy no Mates, that is exactly what I was refering to. How can anyone discribe an F1 as a strip of rubber, they look good enough to take to bed.

rules are made to be broken, all this dot code bull**it etc etc is so yesterday, i thought bridgestone stopped making the original dot code etc tyres for vx220 anyway, there using a similar substiute to replace it, u cant seriously believe that if u put a set of goodyears on the back u r going to get lots more understeer, i found it a better setup even more so with the michellins, no one should be driving on the limits on public roads regardless of what tyres there using, if u do ur obviously stupid, and unless you go to loads of trackdays etc and really push the car you will never know what tyres are capable of, i bet u have never even tried other tyres than the correct spec bridgestone lol! it just makes me laugh that people make such judgements when they havent sampled.. i do appreciate that people all have different views and may be concerned of the cars handling charectaristics but without people trying like myself u will never have known there are better tyres out there..

Sorry, I stand corrected. I just thought a tyre is a tyre, I don't spend much time looking at them as I'm in the car driving it and I'm much more interested in its ability to keep me out of a hedge!

Anyone have a view whether F1s look better when reflected in underchassis neons?! :gayfight:

*rendered speechless by the concept people buy tyres based upon the way they 'look'* Well, virtually speechless. Mr I need NOS. Can I recommend you buy a set of Nankang Radial Remoulds? You can spend the money you save upon the English lessons you so patently require.

Bridgestone say if you use their tyre, get the DOT code right... Some people here say b*lls to that... Seems to me you pays your money and takes your choice ...

I buy tyres by the way they look. In so much as, to me a car with mismatched tyres 'looks' like it's not been as well looked after. So for as long as there are only Bridgestones available for the front, I will be buying Bridgestones for the back. If there was an alternative available which would fit all round I dare say I'd try it out (assuming it was from a reasonable brand). Having said that I'm more than happy with the abilities of the BS on the road (which is where my vx does all its miles).

surely they would have stated if they had any thing to back them up with that they tried them, and for your info thepilot sports are more expencive than the bridgestones so its not about saving money, its supposed to be friendly advice to who was asking about diffrent brand tyres.. so who has tried the goodyear eagle f1 or pilot sports then?

my point is if he gave them a chance and actualy used them he may have got to like them, its so annoying that so many people who read these forums arent allowed to express there opinions toward trying other brands apart from the shitty standard crap they sell u without having people standing to correct u, its just an opinion so get over it. what i say stands and that f1s and pilot sports are good tyres.
