After a couple of months of pissing around my n/a is finally booked in for a new exhaust backbox, what i would like to know is the benfit of having a 200 cell cat fitted at the same time. I ve searched and have nt found a definite answer, at the moment my car is standard apart from a kn cone will having the cat changed make any noticeable difference or do i need to have it remapped to get the benefit?

the standard cat is very restrictive so its best to get a race cat, for mot reasons u need one if u fit some aftermarket backboxes.. and wait a few weeks till thorney updates his n/a maps and get it done, u wont get big powergains but a better feel for car so to speak.

I had a stage 1 remap and back box only, and it was ok, better than standard, but, when the cat was done as well and Thorney did his free upograde to stage 2, then things got much, much better and a far better drive all round. Martin s

If you took mine as a base the max you could get from a race cat would be about 5bhp...............its the only option mine is missing and that would take it to 160bhp. I looked at it and decided ti wasn't worth the cash but i'm happy to be proved wrong. thumbsup

I was a non believer regarding sports cats :beat: Having fitted a magnaflow 200 cell, I now recommend them :D The magnaflow requires welding in place, but for less than £100 for the cat, worth the hassle thumbsup

More important to remove the pre-cat but if you're doing the 200cell sports cat (think mine's ceramic) removing the pre-cat is a must (imho) :)
