I have tried a search but couldn't find anything. Am retrimming my interior and have done the door panels and dash facia but now need to remove the centre console that surrounds the gear lever and hand brake. Is there an easy way to do this?? Do I need to take the handbrake cover off? Thanks

unscrew gear knob, can get tools for removing tight jar lids in homebase or similiar these work ideally. two grub screws under the handbrake handle undo these and slide off handle undo two plastic screws either side of front section of console remove rear cigarette lighter and cupholder, one screw at top. then lift whole console up and slightly forward. refitting is reverse of process, might be easier with car in 3rd to allow better clearance of gearstick on some cars i understand it is possible to remove the gaitor without removing the console, however i know mine was not, which is why Vxl destroyed it when in for warranty so is safer practise to remove as described.

What did you cover your dash with and are you planning to use the same for the handbrake surround?

I've covered my door cards with blue alcantara and thought about the dash panel next (although it looks like it will be a very tight fit round the light switches).

Yeah, you'll need to file/shave about 0.5mm off the top and bottom to clear the switches properly thumbsup

Thanks for the tip! thumbsup

On a seperate note, what are people using to stick the alcantara to the door cards/dash trim? I used liquid PVA for the door cards which worked ok on the big flat surface of the door card, but I reckon it will be a nightmare on the dash panels. Any suggestions on what adhesive to use??

I used faux leather which is ok but should have used real stuff or alacantre to cover the door cards and dash panel. I used super glue to hold the material on the back and in corners and stretched it over. I also used some spray mount glue to help stick the back of the material to the plates (wont hold the edges but does help keep it flat and in place. You do need to file a little of the edges for the light switch clearance. I also used carpet tape (double sided stuff) and a few bits of velcro to secure the plates in place. Looks good now. Just make me wnat to do the dash top and the centre gear surround  Where did you get your material from?
