Hey guys, My reverse light has packed in, and it's not the bulb or the wiring near the bulb (or at least, I can't make it work by wiggling the bulb). A search on the forum, combined with common sense, suggests that the switch is the next most likely point of failure, so that's the next thing to replace. I read that you can get to it by taking off the rear passenger wheel and arch liner, but when I've done that, where is the switch? Will it be relatively obvious? Does anyone have a picture of it (or a picture of a VX with the rear clam off that you can circle where the switch is)? It's a 2.2 if that makes a difference... Cheers! Snoop.

Did mine a couple of weeks ago, you can't miss it when you get the wheel arch off, it's just above the drive shaft. You need a 17mm, i think, ring spanner as you can't get a socket over the connector.

I had an issue with mine, the bulb was fine, the holder was fine and the switch was fine. However, spraying the switch with WD40 solved it and I have absolutely no idea why!

Awesome, thanks guys, especially i need nos (sorry mate, forgotten your real name!) Just to confirm, are you saying I can get to the switch through the top of the engine bay rather than having to take the arch liner and wheel off? I'll have a look tomorrow when it's light, that would be even easier.

I removed my undertray, but maybe you don't have to... I definitely didn't touch the wheel arch liner though.
The Z22SE forum has a bit on it - including a picture of the gearbox with the reverse switch highlighted - i found it very useful : -= Here =-

After taking the switch off I tried to see what was wrong with it and pressed the end in while holding a meter on it. Turns out it was fine. It was just a faulty connection to the switch! I just cleaned up the connector and used some vasoline to make sure there was a good seal on the rubber - its been fine ever since.

I did mine the other week there. You can reach it from the top with a 19mm deep socket (no need to remove wheel, arch liner or undertray). If you look where the gear shift cable connect to the box below that is the switch. Pull the connector off and slip the socket over it and unscrew it. My switch was fine too it was just dirty connections.
