now has the time come to try to get the moulds away from the shell. at this time you get a bit nervous if it´s going off easy or it´s stuck. but we have done a good job waxing etc and it losened quite easy with no damage to either mould or shell.

Hi Anders, :) what is the white stuff on the speedster clam? teflon sheet? being made ON TOP of the original, won't it result bigger than the original? how much weight do you predict to save on each clam?

Hi Anders, :)

what is the white stuff on the speedster clam? teflon sheet?

being made ON TOP of the original, won't it result bigger than the original?

how much weight do you predict to save on each clam?

the white stuff on the frontclam is ordinary 2k paint. it´s there to make a good surface to wax on so the moulds won´t get stuck.

the black part you see is the negative mould that i´m using to create the parts that´s going to be used on the car.
the final parts will be an exact copy of the frontclam as it looks.
every miss i made in the finish of the car will show exactly the same on every copy.

i will post pics during the making of these parts. but it will take 2-3 weeks because the moulds have to rest an harden out before we can use them.

the complete frontclam incl bonnet (and inside part of bonnet) is approx 8-10kg in regular fiberglass with polyester.
if we get the time to use vacuumbaging with fiberglass rowings and epoxi the weight should stop around 5-6kg.
i will put out the exact weight when the parts is ready.

 :o
...so how much do you foresee for the rear shell, that I weighted stock at 28 kg?

edited to say 28+7kg from the stock bootlid, that you will have included in the clam, if I understood right...

a complete rearclamshell will be a little heavier, maybe around 11-13kg bootlid included and in regular fiberglass or 8-10kg in vacuumbagged rowing. the bootlid will not be a loose part because of the excessive weight. it´s the same with the frontbonnet. we will take the whole clamshell off if we´re going to work on the car. the clamshell will be fastened with 6-10 dzus-lockers. the doors without the alloyframe inside and window will weigh about 1.5kg with original mirror. a complete door we hope under 5kg. i´m only guessing and in a couple of weeks we know for sure :D //anders

now we´ve taken off the rear clamshell and started to build intake and exhaustsystems. felt kind of weird to throw the clamshell in the garbage. it looked very good on the outside  i´m also waiting for the final quote on a fuelsafe tank (i think the same model that colin is using). i hope the price stays under 1800£ incl shipping but excl vat. if someone have any connection at advanced fuelsystem in essex and can help me get a good price will get my appreciation forever ;) . the exhaustmanifold is in place and i´m just waiting for the right stainless plate (what is the right name for the plate that mounts to the head and where the exhaust-tubes are welded on). the whole system is built in 2333 and 2348 stainess steel and there will be carbonsilencers.

well! i hope to catch some small birds and a occasional squirrel for dinner at the races. i have to cut cost to drive my babie :D :D
btw where did you find a pic of my wife  (wishful thinking).

i will put a plenumchamber over the runners and have a single 75mm throttlebody.
if we find the time, there will be a airscoop above the roof for fresh cold air, slightly pressureised by speed.
a little like the lmp-cars at lemans.
