well! now we´re speeding up the work on the car. this week we have completed new set of bodyparts. the scale said 1.8kg for the front bumpersection and 14kg for the complete rear incl bonnet and this is only the test. after removed the parts from the moulds we started to check the stability and finish and we were pleased to find out that we can save approx. 6kg on the rearclam w/o getting it too thin and wobbly. my own balancebar and pedalbox works as i wanted. a new plenumchamber with a 72mm throttlebody is in place and i starting to make the moulds to a roofmounted airbox for the airfilter. still waits for the fuelcells, but have been promised to get it next week. new mountings for the öhlindampers is in place at the front and the rear will be ready by monday. all the wishbones has now been replaced by my own "lightweight" version. saves 3kg on every corner. my new tires arrived thursday. 32 pieces of Bridgestone re540 205/50-15 (90€ a piece incl Vat). 3 sets of OZ crono evolution 7x15" arrived wednesday.OZ sweden had a sale and i got them for 100€ a piece. i bought 2 sets of 7x17" too for 120€ a piece just in case. i´ll try to get some pics up in beginning of the week. //Anders

Hi Anders, So what size rims and tyres are you running in each corner? It looks like from your post, that you are using Bridgestone re540 205/50 all round, on 7 x 15 rims all round? Steve

it´s a regulation thing. in the class that we compete we are only allowed for max 205 in widht. the rims are 7x17" or 7x15". with 17" there is a few brands that can supply 205/40, but the costs goes through the roof. the laptimes is quite similar. on mantorp park (3,106km) it´s 0,5sec a lap between 17" and 15". the 17" is harder to drive at the limits, so the averege times over an hour is the same. we cut costs in half with 15". i also bought 80 pirelli and dunlop slicks for future use (265/640 rear and 205/620 front). rims will be 10x17" rear and 7x17" front. next year we will try the swedish gtr series with a supercharged 2.2 (we must be over 300hp) or a saab 2,3l turbo (we benched this engine to 450hp and there are a team that drives the VLN in germany with one just like this). //anders

it´s probably quite a lot work.
i was looking at the new 9-5 aero gearbox because the saab engineers says it´s the strongest yet.

i have tried to put in a c20let with the f28 gearbox and that is a piece of cake to do.
a guy at a swedish forum that i know a little. just rr his calibra with 380whp with small internal changes.
the driveshafts fit right in and the lenghts is right too.
hopefully it´s the same with the 9-5 gearbox.

saab is going to release a new 2.8l twinturbo v6 in a year or 2 and that would be the perfect match to my car.

let me try them out first and see that there is no danger with the durability :D .
these wishbones can´t be used with bushes. only with sperical bearings.

i reckon you don´t give a s**t about comfort ;) .

it takes about 8h to make a full set. the material cost is around 400€.

i´ll promise to make you a set for no profit, if you can wait til late summer. ok thumbsup

BTW do you have a pic of the wifey ;)

Dude, going back to the AP 5000pro+ 4 pot calipers. Loking at AP's website the AP 5000 small 4 pot caliper has the same mounting spacing as the 2 pot fitted to the front as standard (130mm). However the offset is alot different 26mm on the 2 pot and 43.2mm on the 4 pot. How did you get round this? Also how did you mount the AP 2 pot on the rear upright?

i made a spacer with id and od-guides that i placed behind the disc.

on the rear i had to make some machining on the upright and then make a new mounting and weld it to the worked surfaces.

Dude, I see that you have the standard VX pedals. Are you planning on using the servo or are you going to a balance bar?
