Try vauxhall customer services if you get sick of waiting  Give them the part no. and they will check all the dealers for stock then you ring the dealer and get it posted :D I think they just make up the delivery dates for back orders :9mm:

Snap :o i have been waiting for the same switch for a customer. Certain other parts are also on back order. When I ring Vauxhall nobody can give me a delivery date for back orders. I find this rather frustrating as it must appear to customers that I don't care, am just fobbing them off or just havn't bothered.
I just have to wait until the parts arrive.

I've never fully understood why a lot of these parts end up in Germany when the car is/was manufactured in Norfolk. Anyway, waiting times seem a total lottery. Try other garages in case they have the part you need in stock as this is often the case. If in doubt, just keep badgering them until they give in. This does appear to work if you shout hard enough. I remember all sorts of stories about how the Vauxhall people are not allowed to talk to Lotus about getting parts and have to loop through Germany. Radiators springs to mind as a classic tale of having to get Stu Harris involved to ship one from Hethel rather than wait a month for one to be shipped from Hethel, to Germany and then back again (DanL). New dash air vent finally arrived on monday after a 3 month back order wait. Thought winter was going to be over by the time it arrived, not that the vents help any in clearing the windows anyway. :P

well just got off phone from dealer, part on back order is oil filter housing  not air filter housing. date for delivery 27th April '07 a whole 4 months from service! so running fresh oil in old 10000 mile old filter, and from now until i get housing! Is it not good practice to oil change every 6000/6 months if so i might get part in time for next oil change :( Lock should be here in 7 to 10 days though. Will give Customer services a ring when I get 20 minutes spare!

Anyone have ideas on time for back orders?

Back order, is a part out of stock at Vauxhall, it's in the system (but not physical within GM) but delivery cannot be quoted. There was a system within in the parts dept, where you could get a rough idea but even this was for emergency use only.

I've never fully understood why a lot of these parts end up in Germany when the car is/was manufactured in Norfolk.

Even the cars themselves, As a dealer the was ordered through Vauxhall (Luton), this was then sent to Germany, who in turn passed it on to Hethel. Vauxhall is only the UK division of GM Europe based in Germany

Ben

In the end I don't think Vauxhall even wanted to talk to Lotus anymore anyway!

IANVT, but why should u replace the housing (unless its cracked) when u replace the oil filter on service?

Also, Z22SE and Z20LET should be pretty common across the vxl range, is the housing specific, for some reason, for vx220?

housing appears to be seized, they dont want to risk breaking the housing they believe it will.So want to order it before they try an chage filter. Also i work for a german company in domestic appliances i know about spares, 4 months is what annoys me! :)

Light at end of the tunnel. :) On phone to Customer Services finally get an answer to why its on back order. Lotus supplier went bust, new supplier been found but testing is being done on part by lotus due to be released end of march ready to fit end of April! better knowing why.

Surely anything to do with the engine is down to GM as the parts that have to come through Lotus are VX specific parts anything else can be found on any Astra or Vectra.

Sounds like someone screwed up the second (normally cheaper) sourcing of a new housing supplier.
