I've just phoned Dave, and I'm getting mine tomorrow with the 15% discount! I'm still counted in the group buy, so it doesn't affect anyone else's discount, it just means that i only get the 15% discount.
This way I can fit it this weekend![]()
Of course now that you are fitting yours soon we're all going to want the full run down on all aspects of fitting (ease of or not) and of course the first turnover of the key....
As monty python would say (in a non convincing womans voice) "you lucky barstard"
keep us posted Nathan

By the way, if there is anybody else interested in the group buy of the afforementioned Larini exhaust, don't forget to PM me for the password.
Cheers Nathan

Well I'd be happy for them to send them today with a 15% discount so I can fit it at the weekend - on a back box 5% less discount is only about £20 - £25 anyway!
The sooner I get it the better

Oh well, I just wanted to guarantee that I'd have it for fitting this weekend, as if I don't do it this week I won't be able to for a month or so, and can't be bothered waiting that long!
I've got it now, haven't unpacked it though as it seems very well wrapped and I don't want to risk there being oil on it and get it on the carpet!
I'll wait until I get into my Mum's garage on Sat to unwrap it! Can't wait to get it on (so to speak)

Get that camera out on Sat. A sound clip would be good too.
I can't wait to get mine

That's how I felt really, was looking forward to cracking on with it this morning - but in the end turned out to be a right waste of time

I just cannot get the bolts holding the existing backbox to the secondary cat undone. To be honest I didn't expect to be able to after reading up on various people's experiences of fitting backboxes. But I expected that cutting them off would be OK, but to be honest I can't see how that's feasible without damaging something else - so I just gave up and will book it into TMS to get it fitted and a Stage 1 remap at the same time.
Basically, all of the nuts are rusted beyond recognition, so I managed to break off one of the nuts using some molegrips (if that's how you spell it), but I just can't get to the other ones, as one is obstructed by the Oxygen sensor, and the other by the suspension toe link (or something else attached to the suspension), so I can't get the grips on to those ones.
I then decided I would cut them off with a hacksaw, but again access is difficult, and I couldn't see how to do it without risking cuttting through the CAT at the same time. I'm maybe not going about it right, but to be honest after 4 hours (1hr setting up, 2 hrs under the car cursing the nuts, and 1hr packing up) I just couldn't be arsed!
The only way I could see that it could be done would be to remove the secondary cat from the downpipe and then cut the U-bend to get the CAT section out, and then work on the nuts out of the car in a vice etc.
I'm sure someone who's done it before may well have some good advice to get around it, but I think I probably lack the tools, experience and definitely the patience to get the exhaust out. Having said that, it looks that once the U-Bend is separated from the CAT it would be a relatively easy job as all the other relevant bolts are in decent condition!
Anyway, the good news is that the Larini looks good out of the box, seems good quality and well put together etc., it's just disappointing I'll have to wait a while longer to get it fitted

do you think that you can fit a dremal in there to grind out the knackered bolts??? thats the way that i hope to approach it....
Maybe, but as I don't have one, I don't want to buy one and then find it's no good! I think I'll just go to the professionals who have all the right gear!
TBH, having looked at dremels on the web I think the body may be too big to access one of the nuts - but I can't be sure - has anyone found that they work for removing the nuts?

Just thought you chaps might be interested -
Had my car booked in for a service and Geo with Phoenix Motorsport last week and Olly reckons that the exhaust is of a very high quality - best he's seen in ages!
Cheers,
Andy
PS Geo was money bloody well spent!
Cheers for that andy, it is always reasuring when someone in the know confirms what you had been thinking?
Mine should be here soon (full sports system)

Cheers Nathan.
By the way again, if there is anybody still umming and arring, then you need to get your finger out and contact me for the password and get you order in asap, as you only have 2 days left. The 28th is the closing date (wednesday).
