Could a flat battery cause the speedo to overead by as much as 50%? Thanks, Mike.

50% error??? . I am no techinian but I would doubt it. It would prevent car starting though No doubt some whiz will point you in the right direction before too long.

I read a thread a few days ago which said jump starting the car can screw up the stack unit - did you jump start it to get it going again? (to be fair I've jump started mine before and not had any problems )

When the ignition is switched off does the speedo sit above 0 mph? Wil

Try leaving the battery disconnected for 1/2 an hour and see if it resets itself.

All speedos tend to slightly over read. Mine reads about 42 when I am doing 40. Over reading by 50% is another matter!

Anyone noticed that the stack is noisey when your sitting in traffic / standing still at idle? Or is it just mine? Tick, tick, tick, tick ... boom?

I remember reading a similar thread on scottish elises or seloc about a stack over reading. There was a procedure to reset the clocks. With the ignition key OUT and obviously the ignition OFF press AND HOLD the little black trip reset button on steering colum. Then Insert key and turn ignition on so that the battery lights etc are all lit. Theres a whir and the firmware date is shown on the display for a few seconds. Switch off ignition. # My stack dash is noisy to when stationary HTH Davie

I had a problem with the speedo not reading and pulled the fuse for a few minutes which reset it all back to normal. But as said before these cars must not be jump started.

I had to get a new one fitted after previous owner had jump started it...similar symptoms However, garages do love warranty jobs and there may be a quick fix? Saying that, does anyone know how to legally get the speedo to set to the actual mileage adding the old and new one together?

I think Im right in saying Im the only one to get 200+ mph out of a VXT. Everytime I started the car the needle would flick round to the 160 mark. Id be driving round at something like an estimated 190 to 200mph. Fantastic site. But difficult when I came up to cameras as Id have to judge the angle of the needle fom the 160 mark. Whole stack changed eventually. No explanation what caused it. But you know that old chestnut about the car looking like it could do 100mph standing still.....mine was doing 160.

When you guys say "jump" start you mean with another battery? Not "bump" starting by pushing the car and starting in 2nd gear? Just trying to work out why this would cause problems.....
