Excuse the poor spelling and grammer but I thought I'd announce this now whilst I still have the energy. This week has been a long and tiring process where we've tried to prepare all the race VX's in one hit, a feat we've been unable to achieve.

As most will know there is a new race series called the Lotus On Track Elise Trophy. Whilst it says Elise in the title its a series that is open to all Elise chassis derivatives and that includes us so TMS has formed a 5 car VX220 team.

Full details on the series can be found here:

http://www.lotrdc.com/

We have a mix of cars; 4 2.2 NA's and 1 VXT, 4 drivers (the 5th car is a spare and being prepped for Britcar 24hr entry). The 2.2 cars are driven by Joel Plasco, Tony Verrier and Tom CHatterway and the VXT by myself. These three drivers are new to racing and have bought VX220's, allowed us to develop them ready for racing. A nicer bunch of guys you'd find it hard to meet. I drive my own VXT.

The race calendar can be found here:

http://www.thorneymo...ace_Dates.shtml

There are three classes, A for pretty much standard cars, B for cars with greater modifications to power and C for forced induction, engine swaps and more extensive modifications. The three 2.2 cars are all in class B running TMS throttle body conversions, head, cams, Milltek exhausts, TMS manifolds, Nitrons, TD wheels, TMS brakes and full 6 point cages and safety equipment. My class C car runs TMS engine work, Milltek exhaust, TMS manifold, TMS turbo, Nitrons, AP's, TD wheels etc etc.

Full details on the cars (as much as I can put can be found here:

http://www.thorneymo...team_cars.shtml

Now save for some excellent work from our friends in Sweden there has been no race development of the VX220 anywhere in the World so everything we've done has been done from scratch from cage development to throttle bodies we're trying to create the fastest race VX's allowed and the hope is that the VX220 forum will get behind all of them. The Elise trophy is exactly that, 40 odd Elises and 5 of us so I'm hoping that we can make our presence heard and seen to support the car against the tide of Lotii and ideally show them a clean pair of heels :groupjump:

The first event is at Brands Hatch on the 24th of March and is looking to be the years largest Lotus event (such that the event is now billed as the Lotus Festival) and we (the race organisers) are hoping for the largest gathering of Lotus based based car ever held. The Lotus clubs are anticipating over 1000 cars so how about we show them that the VX220 community is alive and kicking!

Through Lotus on Track TMS will be offering discounted tickets for the event via our show and on the forum shop as well (as soon as I get them up).

We're all hoping that the race series will attract a lot of following from the VX community, and as the cars are now reaching full preparedness I can share the details on how and what we do to prep a full race VX220.

Paul from Lotus on Track is arranging for us to have an exlcusive VX220 parking area, there is food and refreshments laid on and even a band - Doctor and the Medics - to play in the evening. Lotus will be there with some demonstration laps and numerous other events and attractions.

Racing starts from 9am (practice) with the first race at 1pm, we have two races, one a sprint race and one a handicap where the starting grid is determined by the results and practice from the first race.

For me personally its been a near crusade for us to race these cars, this weeks 19 hour days, working in the workshop until 12am every night is taking its toll but I hope the VX club can get behind us and support the car at the races.

Anyone up for it?

I'll be there John - if you need any help just shout.

How's the pre season testing gone?

Donington was very slippy when I was there a few weeks back so I guess you won't have any representative lap times yet.

Its the first roll out for the first car tomorrow (we're all still at workshop trying to finish it) but I'd think of it as no more than shakedown testing at the moment. TB's sound nice though :)

Would it not be worth getting the vx220.org.uk logo on that page? Seeing as we will have a lot of support there... SELOC is listed?
