took my car there yesterday to be remapped. the car has an astra VXR turbo and a full milltek with a TMS map.
this gave 253.8 bhp on TMS dyno dynamics rollers at an unknown boost level as i wasnt faxed the boost graphs,
and 224-228bhp on corten millers dyno dynamics rollers with identical intake temps and atmospheric temps holding at 9.5-10psi.
went down to courtenay and got there for approx 9am where they immediately started working on my car after a chat about the car and how its doing, going through previous graphs, and discussing what we hope to achieve.
they checked the boosting of the car and as previously measured, it had 14psi overboost and holding approx 10psi, obviously there is no way a 10psi VXT car is making the claimed 253.8bhp, and as was proved on the independant RR at 224-228bhp.
so the car was put on the rollers for 3 runs and it came out with 232.6bhp (middle line on graph) and the afr was showing it to be lean in the mid range. - regarding the difference between courtenays rr and dyno dynamics one... is 3-4bhp really that much difference?! lol
they then removed the TMS map and put it back to a standard map, the overboost was then approx 13psi and holding approx 9psi as a standard car would do and produced 221.7 bhp (lower line on graph) the extra power over standard will be from the full milltek with 100cell
they then got a piece of bespoke software written and fitted some VXR injectors and ran the car a couple of times again. the over boost was at approx 20psi and held at a good 15-16psi at the top end and gave out 258.7bhp
the gaps between the 3 different maps on the graphs speak for themselves!
now here comes the good bit.... torque!
the TMS stage 2 was recorded on tms rollers as 270lbft, courtenays rollers it came out at 242.2lbft @ 2657rpm
the standard map gave 211.4bft @2541 rpm
their remap gave over 280lbft initially, but after a chat it was decided to tone the overboost level down a touch to smooth out the initial kick in the back from the torque and give a better curve and more driveability, so we settled for a hefty 269.7lbft from a 20psi overboost. the torque curve is pretty flat which is good, and this peak value was at 4164rpm which is nicely in the mid range.
the filename made me laugh as this is the VERY LOW TORQUE map.. lol! the high torque one must be crazy!
id like to give out a big thank you to mark and jon at courtenay for the work and all their help, advice, and the technical chats which were educational. very friendly and knowledgable people and they let me observe every single thing that was being done to my car which is always a good thing.
they even stayed behind till gone 7pm to make sure i was 100% happy with the way the car drove on the road, and the rolling road results.
unfortunately the weather was wet, but 4th and 5th gear are just nuts. the car actually scared me at times.
then i managed to hit snow on the way home so all the fun stopped. hopefully have a couple of dry days this week to test the car out properly but i dont think i'm going to be dissapointed!

Excellent Guy, did they pin point any specific problems or were the injectors running out of puff?
That's a lot of boost!
hey Tim
all they changed was the software (i witnessed everythign being done) so it was a software problem.
lot of boost? no more than an astra VXR standard?
lol @ jim

Have you thought about additional cooling at all ie uprated intercooler more specifically? Next on my list but am struggling for any info.

As I said before, there was clearly an issue with your map and I offered to sort it but you preferred a refund which I sorted as well. The fact the issue is now sorted is great but using it as a reference is pointless as there was clearly an issue (which we never got to resolve).
ah so now it IS an issue with your superchip maps?
THe only issue is I need to map you back to standard, my theory is that there is a mechancial issue and once that is fixed you'll be fine, leaving you with a free remap.

oh missed a bit...
injectors were fine.. it was only 225bhp @ 10psi.. think they were running approx 15ms or 19ms (cant quite remember, but was definately nowhere near the 25.6ms limit) duty cycle with the TMS map.
