Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Gareth and Laura. The pain you are feeling now must be unbearable, but in time it will ease a little to let you remember the good times first before your loss. As has been said before it puts a lot of things in perspective. Sleep well Gareth and Laura. Clair & Tony.

We've now raised nearly £600, an amazing amount in such a short amount of time. It would be wonderful if we could get to a nice round £1000.

RIP our lost fellow owner, like minded thrill seeker and friend of the open road Gareth and his works colleague Laura. Love and friendship to you both. I look at the new posts of excited, fresh, vx owners and hope beyond hope that they and we all, will be safe on our travels. I know that i have had close shaves in the past and have cheated, what could have been more serious injuries, on various ocassions. This terrible accident reminds me of just how lucky i am to be here and of how i shouldn't take it for granted that i'll see the end of each journey or exit the apex of every corner. Taken from our lives and our roads but never from the heart of our driving... ..Gareth and Laura. :grouphug:

I keep coming back to this thread. Every time I feel so sad, and at a loss as to what to write.
I don't know that I can add anything that hasn't already been written here :(

It's strange the community spirit that this site generates, purely through the fact that we own, or have owned in the past, a certain type of car...

I really hope the kind words on here will bring some comfort (however small) to those that knew Gareth and Laura.

It's a shocking reminder as to how short our time on this planet can be, and my heart goes out to their families.

Cliff.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Have been away for the weekend and returned to find this news :(

RIP

Paul

:( :( :( Read this last night and as others have said, felt quite devastated that i had lost a 'fellow enthusiast', who felt like a friend who i had never met. :( Such a tradegy, and although it's an old cliche, at least he went doing something he loved - driving his VX. Although feel just as upset about the young girl as well, such a shame :( To think he was just a usual guy - just like myself, roughly the same age is a sickening feeling RIP :( EDIT: Why does it say he was last active today on his profile??

Having looked over this thread many times, wanting to say something fitting. Nothing comes to mind, nothing ever will, words could never come close. What a shame. Rest in Peace. Thoughts go out to the families in this time of need.

Why does it say he was last active today on his profile??

Quite possibly that's Gareth's wife, Megan, who has been viewing this thread. I hope the continued kind comments and wishes bring her comfort.

I never log off from this site, so whenever I open it at home or at work I'm instantly logged on. Maybe Gareth's wife come to the site to view the thread.

If that is the case, I hope she can take some comfort from the words that are to be found here :grouphug: . As many have said, it feels like losing a friend, even though most of us never chatted with him and even fewer (if any) met him.

Like others I keep ducking into this thread, to read what has been posted. It makes me very proud to be part of this community of passionate VX owners. The comradary is amazing and I hope it gives strength to those who need it most at this time.

Like many othes I have looked at this thread a few times and wanted to reply but couldn't think of what to write but felt like I wanted to say something. Losing someone is never easy but when someone is taken in an instant with no warning it must be doubly hard and most parents never want their children to go before them. I keep thinking what it would be like to say goodbye to my wife one morning and then never see her again and I get a sick horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. My thoughts to Gareth and Laura's families.
