Jan Brunton, chair of the school governors, said Ms Quinn and Mr Newark had been good friends and he had taken her to look at cars after she had recently passed her driving test.
She said: "Everybody in the school community is devastated.
"They were very popular at the school and Gareth was always busy and always doing something.
"He had just finished a Masters degree and was working on a PhD.
"Gareth and Laura were friends, and he'd offered to take her to look at a car because she was so excited at just passing her test.
"They were dedicated staff who will be greatly missed."
Mr Newark, of The Pastures in Coulby Newham, was taken to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton after the crash, but died later from his injuries.
Ms Quinn, of Rushmere, Marton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fibreglass vehicle "disintegrated" when it hit the trees. Inquests into the deaths have been opened and adjourned.
A funeral service for Mr Newark will be held this week with his wife Meg asking that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Great North Air Ambulance.
Mr Newark had been a teacher of Year 6 pupils and had only recently returned from an adventure trip away with the school. He had worked at the school for four years.
Ms Quinn was a teaching assistant in the school's nursery.
Mrs Brunton added: "The local authority has a pupil support division, which will be helping at the school on Monday when the children return.
"They will be there to speak with any pupils, staff or parents that may want to talk."
