I'm looking to set up a group buy for this big brake conversion
(check the link )

http://www.bigbrakes...sion-p-446.html

the kit for the vx is ally belled...

can peoples please post or pm me if they would be interested for around £655 including P&P, choice of rota and choice of calliper colour...

i though it would be good value compared to the £1500 or so for the A P kit.

anyone?????

I am seriously interested in this, I was looking into Wilwood set up but I am waiting for a reply from them on a price and what is available.

Hey. Right o.k. here is the finalised deal:

In the end, G.S motor sport gave us a better group buy offer than hi spec direct, as they have the greatest buying power in the UK with regards to hi spec products.

This group buy is open from Monday 23rd April until Friday 4th May.

Firstly the rear conversions are available on a 320mm disc ( to fit under 17” wheels) with an Ultralite 2 pot calliper system. This has the handbrake kit but Hi Spec can not supply the handbrake cable linkage required for fitment. They suggest Speedy cables or another firm for the cables.

The RRP’s
Ultra lite 4 310mm RRP £900.00 delivered ( Mintex 1144)
Ultra lite 2 320mm RRP £1150.00 delivered ( Mintex 1144)

These kits come complete with callipers, bells, rotors, fitting kit, hoses etc. and P&P

They can provide a group buy for people 4 or more and the discount is:

Front conversion.
£655.00 delivered with Mintex 1144 pad upgrade
£667.50 delivered with Mintex 1155 pad upgrade (fast road / track pad)
£665.00 delivered with Ferodo DSC2500 pad upgrade
£675.00 delivered with Ferodo DSC3000 pad upgrade (Track pad)

Rear conversion
£929.99 delivered with Mintex 1144 pads upgrade
£942.49 delivered with Mintex 1155 pads upgrade (fast road / track pad)
£939.00 delivered with Ferodo DSC2500 pad upgrade
£949.00 delivered with Ferodo DSC3000 pad upgrade (Track pad)

An additional £20.00 will be taken off if the front and rear when ordered together (1 person)
Any mix and match can be purchased for the group buy.

PAD INFO: All pads are from a Mk1 Lotus Elise for the Ultralite 4pot and 2 pot calipers
Please be aware that ALL kits in the Hi Spec range are made to order specifically and lead times can be seen here:
http://www.bigbrakes...tails-s-27.html (up to 28 days delivery)

They are working bang on schedule at the moment with no delays known.

All payments are made up front for specially ordered products and group buys.

Payments can be made:
1. Email them with your contact details so they can take payment over the phone
2. Ring them on 01158462092 (Small technical problems currently)
3. Paypal to: Sales@GSMotorsport.com
4. Direct bank transfer (details can be provided)
5. All Major cards accepted

Please quote VX 220 forum member group buy for the attention of Gary
These kits are complete and are bolt on applications for supreme braking and fit under the 16” wheels.

Finally callipers come in a choice of colours:
• Anodised silver, anodised gold, black (baked 2-pac), red ( baked 2-pac)

There is also a choice of rota’s (the floating disk)
• Grooved (most popular), drilled, of drilled and grooved.

Please state this when ordering.

Any extra info required please call or email Gary for details on the above number.

Opening Times: Monday-Friday 10am-5pm

sorry for taking a little time to organise this, but we got there eventually.

any interest??

liam :D

all that i know about hi spec brake systems is that radical moter sport use them as standard fit and that a guy called gary broad on this forum had them on his stage 3 vxt and reccommended them. (this is where the idea of this group buy came from....) liam. i'm definatly going for a front conversion ( Black callipers and grooved rota's ), i just need to think about which pads to go for as my vxt is my daily drive; although i do need them to perform on the track...

Sounds like a good deal for the front conversion, although the back conversion seems expensive. Go for the Ferodo DSC2500 pads, good compromise and don't take ages to warm up. Although my preference would be Pagid Rs 14's but for some reason i don't think HiSpec do this pad for many of their calipers, you could always check with them. Rs Jas

I can compare HiSpec vs AP on a different car .. although comparisons like this are always subjective. This was around 4 years ago and using the Billet4 kit.

I found the HiSpec kit to perform exceptionally well on track and on road. Stunning stopping ability when using Mintex 1155s (and Mintex 1177s at the rear on standard setup). The AP kit was good, but I felt the HiSpec setup had the edge in raw controlled stopping power.
I found that the pads 'wedged' slightly more on the HiSpec kit than the AP. Probably due to the higher stresses I was able to exert. I also found that the HiSpec "bespoke" hub adaptor was 1mm out for my car at the time. Finally, the customer service and communication from HiSpec was variable to say the least.

In summary:
HiSpec was for me a quality piece of kit let down slightly by the mild modification I needed to do to get it to fit. The aftersales would put me off buying again... but as you seem to be going via a disti then you bypass this problem.

NB. These are general subjective views on HiSpec vs AP kit. not the specific kit you're looking at.

hth,
Paul
but as you seem to be going via a disti then you bypass this problem.
this is one of the reasons that i decided to go through a distributor, also hi spec direct required 1 single payment for all the kits. :9mm: .. liam

although the back conversion seems expensive.

The rear is just a no go without a handbrake cable - i find it v dubious that they havent (read couldnt) sort it given the size of the elise/vx market and there being NO other rear conversion available....
