ok so the difusser thing got deleted on the pretense that i had coppied the design of the carbon tms design and also had the idea of making money.

well i now have the finished item and im very pleased to say its awesome! not only what it cost is great but it looks great too. i am going to post a picture up of it and show u and the moderators the finished item afterwhich i hope to recieve an apology as it bears little resemblence to the tms one. the pictur will do the talking i hope so i wont try and describe here. it cost me £90 and i am very happy with that and am going to giv it a spry tomorrow in satin black.

i want to ask the following to both u and the moderators "once u see the finished item and agree it does not hold resemblence to the tms one am i allowed to offer it to the forum members at the same price of £90 plus p+p?" i am chasing this up due to the amount of interest i have had through pms and email.

i again am not trying to make money nore trying to copy the tms difusser which i may add were my first intentions!

if i am not allowed then i presume it is for one reason, that the item is a bargain and the moderators/ tma do not want u to have such a good deal without them having a profit! i cannot see any other reason as like i have repated over and over......its a none profit item and is not a copy of tms diff..

please feel free to add any comments as i want to know where i stand.

once the above is cleared i have a new issue to resolve. my fiber glass buddy and me have talked in depth about the exige style engine cover with a hindge, and a independent boot cover with hindge. the mould will be made buy the end of july once the design is satisfactory. once it is made it will be offered in the colour of your car. i do intend to make a profit on this item to cover the initial starting costs so i ask is this allowed on here? it is an item which no one offers. i have seen various ideas but none have the ability to open independently of eachother without the need for tools or longer than 2mins of ur time. can u and the moderator team please comment on my future venture.

Mate I hope you do well thankyou for making an ally diffuser I'm sure it will look great just remember this site seems to have been set up by a COMPANY called TMS and is basically a marketing tool for TMS I'm sure there are a few (we love TMS) people who use this forum who will make you out to be some kind of Pirate but.... there are are I'm sure just a few members ( me included ) who use the site to find out the best way to make our cars look good and go fast and use the shared info of the many owners that contribute to this site The useful threads say it all Tanton speedy got a in trouble for his rear diffuser by not putting it in the right place I personally am going to buy a carbon fiber one from him as I think it looks the bolocks you were a bit silly to use a snap of a TMS prepped car but ...... Fcuk it if yours looks similar then that shot was probably the best you could offer to the rest of the members of this forum that you could offer who were asking for snaps lets not forget .......... it's about our love of the car not spending money in garages that we use this site ! I've been reading the forum for over 4 years (yes thats how long I've had a vx ) only after writing one off have I started to contribute to this forum ( Basically I wanted people to know about the one I'd crashed ) so they didn't buy a crashed repaired . There is another forum that some of the owners . that owners use called ....type 116.com that seems to have no links to a tuner . and is much smaller site with no comercial links I love my car and only want to get the best out of it if anyone has any good ideas about modding it then I welcome that and hey it's only a forum what is any one gonna do switch off my computer .... or not talk to me at one of the meets they set up Like I'm bothered keep it up remember it's about the car not TMS

i do intend to make a profit on this item to cover the initial starting costs so i ask is this allowed on here?

Just thought I'd add a comment.

If its just to cover costs of making the mould a few practice goes etc... and don't forget labour as I'm guessing although you may do it for free, bet your mate wants a couple of beers for helping especially if he doesn't have a VX. Then surely that's not profit but just covering costs, ie a non-profit making venture!!! That also means less hassle from Mr Taxman

BTW very interested in seeing the pics as need (well want) a diffuser and love the idea of the exige lid as I love the badster look but want easy access to the boot.

The Moderator team have no issues with orignal non-profit material such as the TAT diffusors that are in the Group buy section.

'RHS', your thread was deleted and you were informed because you used a picture of a TMS diffusor to promote your own.

So in answer to your first question. If you produce a diffusor, use original pictures to show it and convince the mod team that you are doing so, not for profit (which i think to be fair you have so far) then i can't see there being an issue.

I apreciate your honesty in the quote bellow:

i do intend to make a profit on this item to cover the initial starting costs so i ask is this allowed on here?

But the mod team's stance is that any mention of profit and you would need to make a contribution to the site for which there are a number of arangements. Best thing to do in this instance is to PM a mod who will contact John.

cheers
james

Yep, Like i said before... the only "sponsor" of the site that could get upset about such a small product is TMS. makes me think sometimes it really does!

Forum is funded by TMS. Is is so wrong to ask contributors to abide by the (few) rules re commercial posts??

The TMS connection is not a secret and as most of us would agree, is not simply a marketing tool for them. Buying thier products/services is not compulsory, hence the sponsored (and paid for) ad banners for other tuners.......

BTW, this subject is as old as dem dere hills............ :)

I applaud this venture Imnotworthy If I owned an Elise I could buy all manner of parts for a fraction of the price of the few available Vx one's. But I don’t and because my car was made in limited numbers I have to pay a premium for modified parts :( That’s why its great that members like Tatonspeedy and Redhairsucks have taken the time and effort to produce alternatives for the masses thumbsup At the same time I will be forever indebted to JT for creating this online community to help us get the most from our wee plastic cars. Hopefully this venture can continue without breaching the commercial policy. Looking forward to seeing pics :poke:

James has made the stance of the mod team quite clear. If it's an original design it can certainly be sold here. If it's non profit then it will be added into the group buy section along with the others. If it is for profit RHS will be asked to make a contribution to the site as in the case of Tatonspeedy and then it will be added to the group buy section.

Nobody is knocking or will prevent initiative, it's what keeps the world ticking thumbsup

Thanks
Nick

rubbish how much does it cost to run this forum, couple of hundred a year!! if that!! money making off people selling stuff isnt fair on a "public" forum Especialy one that isnt supposed to be a TMS machine! (that was said in the past btw)

I tend to agree with the post above that posting a picture of someone else's product didn't help and of course the drawings showed a striking resemblance to the TMS product. Call me a cynic but I wouldn't be surprised if the Exige back shows a striking resemblance to the Badster one .... The other point is the old chestnut of ownership of the website. Like it or not it is funded by Thorney (predating the creation of TMS by a year or two). We all benefit from this. And if you feel that we don't then there are other places to go. No one makes you come here. I also note that other members are happy to sell their items on ebay. There is a choice in all this. chinky chinky

There speaks the voice of experience ;)

Seriously though, it will be considerably more than that. Partly because it'll be hosted somewhere with a nice high SLA, quite possibly on a dedicated server, because it's not only dealing with the forum but with important stuff like their e-mail and business websites, and partly because a forum as popular as this uses up an immense amount of bandwidth - and that ain't cheap if you want it to be fast and reliable.

I do think that the forum should be independant from TMS, but the fact is that it isn't, and it's not our decision to make - if we don't like it there are other forums we can use. But I really wouldn't go down the cost route, because I suspect the actual cost of running this forum with this level of service would surprise most people.

hi again. in response to "vix" saying, Call me a cynic but I wouldn't be surprised if the Exige back shows a striking resemblance to the Badster one .... well dear sir. i think that the badster one is poo! good idea but not at all user friendly, nor is it good for heat dispersion or asthetically pleasing. the one im am currently designing will be awesome i promise because of the following...... next week i will have aproximatly 5 different style designs for both myself and the forum people to vote on which is the nicer. it will have mesh vents in certain areas so u can see behind u along with vents in asthetic places positions and styles. these vents will hopefully sport the same mesh used on the vx220 and not some cheap copy. the vents will then be sheltered by a small lip to prevent vertical rain pouring in on the engine. along with this it will be made in two parts. one covering the engine bay and the other covering the boot. u will not have to drill any holes to the exterior of the car to fit either item, instead there will be internal brakets made to support the new structure. the boot will be on the same hindges that are currently used and will also still operate via the cockpit lever to open it and i may even add a damper. you will be able to open the boot as u please without disturbing the engine bay cover. the engine bay cover will be held in place but some form of clips, maybe dezus fastners or some kind of lockable clip. it will be offered in bear fibreglass or in the colour of your choice for an additional cost. it will come with a very simple fitting kit with easy to follow fitting instructions. i want to make this mod easy peasy to fit and hopefully achieve a novice fitting time in under half an hour! along with the above i want to make it cheap for u all to buy. it will be well under £1000 but no i cant imagine it will be lower than £500. the cost will be calculated after the mould, instructions, fitting kit and painting deal is made. now then mr vix i think an apology is in order :) pic coming soon of the difusser. i have pics of un painted, painted, not fitted and fitted. and just so u know once i had the car in the air it took 9 mins to fit using one tool. that will ding dang do for me. speak soon regards redhairsucks aka andy :D ps im a bit :drink: night
