Maybe the car would need a full inspection and moved to a Q plate? Tho if the original engine is still used the original plate may be re-usable (donor car type stuff)

What if it hasn't yet been scrapped?? What would you do to a company trying to sell it?

Anyone have any ideas?
On the HPI check, VCAR status: 'DVLA Scrapped Marker on Condition alert Register'
What exactly does this mean?
What if it hasn't yet been scrapped?? What would you do to a company trying to sell it?
What if someone had bought this car? What should they do? Anyone had any experiences with this?
Dan

Its alot easier if you just say what you want in the first place

Its sounds suspiciously like one of those stories...I got this mate right, and he really likes this girl...what should he do.
Sorry mate just made me

Could be a mistake... could be rung.... could be the scrapper decided he could make a few bob!!!
In the short time it would be worth getting a mech to check it out. The most important thing is to make sure you're not driving a deathtrap...
I think the only way to sort this is:
From VOSA website:
The vehicle has been accidentally damaged or written off - How to obtain a vehicle identity check (VIC)
You will need to take it to a Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) test station to undergo a VIC. Before taking your car to be checked, you will also need to pay a fee. On receipt of the fee VOSA will book an appointment for you and tell you where and when you should take your car to be checked. You will also need to give certain information about your car to VOSA before the check takes place. This will allow them to confirm that the information you have given matches with their records. If your vehicle passes the VIC, DVLA will store the result on computer. You can apply to DVLA for the registration certificate (V5C), which will be issued and will contain the following message - 'Accident damaged and/or substantially repaired; identity checked on dd/mm/yy'. All subsequent V5Cs will carry this message. Further information on the VIC can be found on the link below.

Ok thanks,
The car was bought from a salvage yard, but it turns out they weren't the most reputable. The car was bought to be repaired. Just trying to establish whether or not the car should have been scrapped and whether or not the salvage yard knew this.
I was told when investigating my case that some dodgy dealers will fix a car extremely quickly and sell it. If the seller did a HPI it would be clear, but could actually be a Cat D, or C as the database can have delays. You then can be driving around in a car which you HPI'ed and have a clear report but if you happen to re HPI it in the future (when selling ect) it will show a Cat. (usually the date will be very close to your purchasing date).
My reg ends in RDB, a car was written off ending in ROB (or something like that), the insurance company informed the DVLA of it being scrapped, but they had my reg on the docs.
