ok here goes.. TMS use Superchips, Courtenay use Klassen, Regal use erm i dont know... now all these maps are generic maps that just work and do a good job.... my understanding is that neither the Z20LET or the Z22SE ECU has been 'cracked' so the best that can be offered is increase in boost and air/fuel ratio and rev limit, i'm sure someone will be along to correct me if im wrong so..... if what i say above is correct, what benefits would there be of installing a custom ECU (something like a emerald or a mega squirt), i appreciate this would enable me to mod a lot more (throttle body size etc..), and that I would also need to use the elise pedal box and remove the dbw. but what else would be changeable compared to the generic? also a question to the tuners, as your maps are generic, are you able to fine tune those maps to individual cars, or are they just as is?

Regal use EDS (german TUV approved) There was a thread recently with Klassen doing a 1/8 mile in a 500bhp VXT - Using a OEM ECU (iirc). Cant see the point re expense/parts/time/problems when the ECU is good for 500bhp. Apart from writing your own maps? check out www.zlet.co.uk (you have to join forum), cant recall any "real" talk of changing ECU

Not all maps are generic maps. Well ours aren't certainly. We have with Klasen cracked the Bosch 1.5.5 management so can alter anything within that ecu, just like standalone which is why we are able to map for cars running with K04 Race turbos (a hybrid of the VXR unit) and also GT28/GT30 with bigger injectors, air flow meters, map sensor, this is also why Stefan has been able to map his Speedster to 565 bhp on the OE ecu. thumbsup

Yep, we run the same ECU, completely 'cracked' all maps fully modified per car.

I understand that TMS increase boost to 16psi for a stage 1 or 2 remap... Is it possible to request that boost be raised somewhat lower, - 14psi for example, - end result being the removed flatspot, - increased boost & power but slightly less strain/stress on the mechanics than had it been increased to 16psi?

I recently met someone with a friend who can "Crack any ECU there has ever been". I only have moderate interest in cracking ECUs, but if anyone wants to test him - and presumably pay him to do it - I can put them in-touch... Steve

im half in the process of designing a stand alone DBW/ETC/ETB/FBw/ (what ever the fark you want to call an electronically driven throttle body) so that it can be used with an aftermarket ECU like DTA/MBE/OMEX/MS/Autronic etc etc..... will take a little while but im sure its worth it in the end.
