I can actually finish this story off. I brought a VXR220 off Mr Willis (the previous owner of car 16 as stated by Imran) in August this year, registration J9VXR. It is serial no 15 not 16.
The car (No 15) was a dealer demo for a year before Mr Willis brought it in Dec 2005 and changed the number plate J9 VXR on to it, and it retained the plate ever since. Mr Willis kept it for 10 years until now, doing 13k miles, and apart from paint bubbles from keeping it outside the car is mint. My car is also HPi clear, and I had the car serviced at my local VX220 specialist Top Gear Automotive and was given a clean bill of health, with no apparent damages or previous major repairs. Car 15 is in my garage,
At the time I did not know the storyline with Imran as it is thread regarding car 16, so I did not ask Mr Willis about the incident. But Mr Willis appears a perfect gentleman and a genuine seller.
So my take on the story is this:
It is written somewhere on the web (pistonhead I think) that Mr Willis had given an explanation on the incident. Basically he had car 16 and had an accident in it and it was written off (but apparently HPi failed to record it). He then brought another VXR (no 15) and changed the number plate J9VXR to car no 15 and kept it until this year.
Regarding what happened to car no 16, I did an HPi check on the number plate GK54ZZL (car 16) and the story is as follows:
Car is recorded as insurance theft on 11/4/2009
Current keeper acquired it on: 15/2/2007 ie it was still under Imran’s name when it was reported stolen, ie he never sold it.
So there you go, car 16 is gone.
Car 15 wearing J9VXR is in my garage, ready to be enjoyed next summer.

the way I read the above post is ...
vxr number 16, which this whole thread is about, was stolen and never recovered in 2009.
vxr number 15 just happens to have the same private plate because the owner who wrote off vxr number 16 transferred it to another vehicle, which just happens to be another vxr, but number 15

Yes vocky precisely. Sorry for my rather long winded way of putting it :-)
I just thought it was quite interesting that no 16 was eventually never sold but stolen instead.

I imagine 16 is still out there with a new chassis number and as a vxr or a red turbo.

Sounds very interesting to me. Hope you do have VXR15 and not VXR16.
From my understanding of the thread when I 1st read it was that Imran was dishonest in saying "No damage and HPI Clear", then went on to refute any accusation of him repairing the car even after people had seen the car and some forum admin noted all the IP addresses of the posts etc....
My car is HPI clear but has had a new rear clam before my ownership, it's also had one repair to the rear and awaiting another after 2 trolley incidents in car parks and also awaiting a 3rd repair on the front after hitting a rabbit. Even tho my car is HPI, it's still had damage, the only difference is I wouldn't lie about it.
