Plans have front and rear clams in stock, both new and used (if anyone needs body work repair). Maybe we should get some molds made...

Surely if a company has bought the rights to make the clams, they aren't going to take too kindly to people copying their design and producing cheaper versions?

But if someone produced a clam that wasn't entirely the same (maybe it had a diffuser or turbo-style spoiler built in, or a different size boot) they'd find it hard to prosecute, especially if it was made out of another material. People produce copy after-market car parts all the time (brake pads, disks, etc) and don't get into trouble... I don't see how a clam is different.

I remember seeing a place in Hong Kong that did ridiculously cheap carbon fibre Elise clams. Also a place in Wales doing Elise/VX220 Crashboxes + radiator enclosures. I'm sure they'd be worth contacting.

I think the place in Wales may have said they actually did VX220 clams, but for race use only (so no hole for lights I think). I'll see if I can find the e-mail.

Thankyou for your email. our crash boxes are a composite mix of carbon, grp, cor matt, and woven rovings. We are not at the moment making a clam with a carbon finish, but make a light weight clam which is gel finished with carbon on reverse purely for race use. I hope this helps if we can be of any further help please contact us, regards Mandy ps within the next few weeks we will be making carbon side air vents for the turbo, (we already sell clio ones have a look on ebay)

Surely this sort of thing happens with bike parts all the time i.e. Race fairings and seat units and they don't seem to get any problems from the manufacturer.

I think especially for the rear, a clam design that could be bolted together in sections , then blended and sprayed.
