Could be interesting as I need to replace mine as well. Depends on timing and price though. Those of you already running on the Eliseparts kit, which kit are you using (found two variants on their site)?

The modified bits are being made today, there will be a spanner flat, and there will be a collet with a groove like those washers plus a number of other tweaks :) There will also be a cross brace type bar available for the VX like on the Exige.

By heck, that was quick development, just about to say that the cross brace avaliable for the Exige, could not be modified for our cars, due to the proximity of the back box on the VX.

Uprated toe links and a cross brace, put me down for that :groupjump:

A bar which extends across both legs of the rear subframe to prevent it from flexing under hard braking and cornering which equalizes the load between each hub.

I'll defo be interested in getting a set.

My car is squeaking like a good 'un. Even though I have fully coated the bush in a layer of white lithium anout 20mm thick

Though cold weather is helping slightly but I need to bite the bullet and replace them.

Slightly OT, but is the squeek like a high pitched tinny/whiny sort of sound? My car has just started making a noise that sounds like something is vibrating or rubbing - mostly happens when decelerating and under 2000 revs (also going over bumps) and only when the car has warmed up a bit. Also happens a lot when I try to use too high a gear for the revs (eg 3rd at 20mph).

Thought it might be anything from cam pulleys (changed with belt in May so shouldnt be an issue) to heat shield near exhaust (not front - have checked) or even an exhaust bracket. Also looked at undertray (fine) and various other potentially ratlly bits in the engine bay. Havent had the opportunity to get underneath it to take the tray off yet, but it sounds like this might be what is causing the rattle/squeek.

It's driving me mad - almost enough to get rid of the car... :beat:

Slightly talking at cross purposes here. The cross brace that I was thinking about was the brace connecting the left and right inboard ends of the tie rod uniballs. I believe that Lotus call it a 'double shear, track control arm brace' as fitted to the Exige Cup 255.
Cannot for the life of me find an illustration of the beast, but its different from the sub frame strenghting brace.
Any chance of developing that brace a well ?
keep up the good work :D

Is this supposed to be a VX specific kit ?
Because I still don't see the same missing part as in the Eliseparts kit (VX and federal Elise specific)

I'm speaking of this :

my car is currently in having nitrons and the elise parts rear toe link kit fitted.

what exactly are the modifications that need to be completed so that the kit fits my VXT ???

help is much appreciated.

liam thumbsup

first off you need to ensure that your VXT takes the M10 outboard joints..... as they were changed to M12 about 1/2 - 3/4 the way through vxt production.

thanks for that,

my vxt is an 04. what have others done inorder to fit the elise parts kit to theirs in the past???

thanks again liam. thumbsup

Muncher, if this is an on-going development with Spitfire, how about going the whole hog and asking if they could develop the rear brace between tie rods, like the one that is avaliable for the Exige :)

I'll ask them, not sure what the demand would be like for them as they'd be more expensive.

The design is being finalised today, I just need to climb on the garage roof to take some photos of my old rear subframe :P

For a full kit (tie rods + brace link), I will break my little pink pig...

Sorry for the late response to your question about tie rod noises.

My is definitely a squeak rather than a whine; 100% sure that it is the tie rods. My sound is not speed / rev related; completely sure that it is heat related.

Could it be the onset of your engine mounts going?

Guess that this doesn't help you much.

But if it makes you feel better, I've got tons of squeaks and rattles everywhere else.

The standard tie rod kit is now being modified so that it can accept the brace between the two legs of the subframe should you wish to upgrade you just need to buy the extra long bar and collets :)

Muncher, top work on developing this kit with them. Any idea when the finished articles will become available for purchase by the general public (either within or without a group-buy)? chinky chinky

Aiming for about 3-4 weeks, as that's how long the new bars take to come over from the states.
