I don't think the torque value on them is especially important, it can't be that high anyway due to the small size of the bolts.

indeed there's no importance... they have been "hand torqued" from experience. But I can measure the torque that I have put. 8-10Nm I guess I even would have put rivets instead of bolts in that place, they are more able to whistand the shear. pics to come when I have some time to extract them from the camera

The toe link kit is (only a handful left), the brace bar you will have to pay a bit more for though.

I've installed the left toe link tonight (last time it was the right one only) A little bit hard to drill the subframe due to the Cat being close, I had to remove the bolts from the cat to the elbow tube to gain some clearance but that's working. A little bit tricky to tighten the small upper bolts, to hold the nut you have to put 2 fingers deep inside the hole in the subframe... now that everything's installed I think there's really no space to put a brace of that so big diameter. a 20mm should go but with low clearance to the cat, the undertray & the engine mount. I'll take measurements & pictures

I drilled the holes near the cat by jacking the cat up slightly and using an extended drill bit. Unless you've got a cat section which is substantially different to mine I think you'll find the bar will fit using the methods we have in mind. The photos will be good for comparison :)

I seem to have missed the bit about drilling holes! :o - but don't intend fitting my kit for a while anyway. Any pics of what's involved please?

It will be obvious when Sam3703 posts his pics, they're for the 8 small bolts which hold the double sheer brackets onto the subframe.

here we are - 2 toe links fitted - clearance for the brace bar measured

pics !

double shear bracket in line with subframe - indeed you need to drill the subframe. Don't be affraid of any loss of strength of the subframe, the holes don't do anything. I would just recommand, if one day you decide to remove the bracket (to go back to standard toe links), to keep the screws+larger washers tightened in. that will spread the strain around the hole.
Posted Image

I attached the bracket with a M8 bolt to the existing hole, just to keep everything in place while drilling
then drill with a 6mm diameter bit
Posted Image

then find a lady with lady's fingers to put & hold the nut & washer that far
Posted Image

fitted !
Posted Image

I've done no pics for the left side, but the difference is that you have to jack the cat up (undo the bolts at the left ouput of the cat)

NOW the clearance for the brace
configuration : 2.2 NA with stock exhaust

*** distance from the cat to a line between the screws head centers
Posted Image

1,2cm to the tube... too close !
Posted Image

3cm to the cat
Posted Image

should be better a little more far to the rear from the bracket

2cm from the bracket

2,5cm from the cat
Posted Image

almost 2cm from the tube
Posted Image

should be clear from the undertray as well
so i think a 1in brace bar can fit... thats tight. but that fits

cheers

Thanks sam, the pics are great! The path the bar will take is actually lower than the string, and further back. Off the top of my head I think about 10-15mm lower than the string and the same again further away from the subframe. Should give at least 35mm clearance from the centre of the bar.

Sam can you take a close up of the outer mount please?
why is the bolt so low?
are there washers under the head???

:)

Photo's taken of toe link. I used a cut down broom handle to show that the exhaust would foul the subframe brace. The car is a VXT 03 with a Miltek exhaust.
