OK, well they offered a large apology :) They have just transferred over to Desktop inventor from Solidworks and there is still a little finger trouble I suspect. They have promised to do these ASAP but I will wait until I have them in my hands before any promises from me! more soon :)

Here's some photos of the revised main bracket and the bolts with collets and spacers for the brace bar.

The design of the main bracket has been changed slightly to allow the brace bar bracket to be adjustable in position as can be seen from the slot. The existing brackets that you guys have will still allow the brace bar brackets to fit but they'll require a bit more drilling. If anyone wants a set of the newer brackets to make things a little easier I think they'll be available for about £20 per pair.

I'm sorry, I don't fully follow this. Are you saying that the replacement bits I've now got (for 2003 NA) won't accommodate a brace bar (which I'd like to purchase in the future) without drilling? I'm confused!

Vix, to fit the brace bar you always have to drill one hole through the subframe. Depending on how low you need to put the bar you may find that the pre-drilled hole on the toe link bracket is not low enough, therefore when you drill it you would want to drill through the 2mm of stainless steel bracket, then through the subframe. It will still fit just as well, but with the newer version of brackets it would be a little bit easier as there is less material to drill through and the slot will act as a guide hole. Basically the original one works fine but the newer version is easier to fit and gives you more scope for adjustment if need be.

Ok Marco
Well I can sculpture the bracket around the damage repair though it means one bolt will be missing.
Meatloaf claimed two otta three aint bad but three out of four is better :)

Can you check how thick the repair sheet is including any welding though excess can be ground off if need be.

If you have opted for the brace that would be ideal as it a has a major fixing inwards of the main bracket that will stop the main bracket distorting inwards under heavy load.

:)

:)

Not sure...

I am not persuaded it will fit my full Milltek exhaust system...

So far I have been using a quick cure made by Hitec (an aluminium flat (rectangle shaped) bar mounted between the 2 lower points of the subframe - bolted to the diffuser fixings)...

Interesting, when was that bar fitted in respect to the damage on the subframe?

Right after they welded the repair sheet...

They discovered the damage when I brought the car for the SC Conversion, they fixed the repair (and informed me by mail) and when I came to pickup the car they told me they had designed/built/installed that bar...

I have been using it since (road and track) with no apparent problem (since March 2003)...

Another update with some new pics guys:)

Here's the revised bracket fitted, the slot gives you the option of raising and lowering the brace bar and it's been made to line up with the existing subframe hole which is already there so providing you exhaust isn't too close you can simple enlarge that hole.

The next 3 shots show me resetting the geo (today I only needed to reset the rear toe) using the wood and string method which is in the SELOC tech wiki.

Here's the brace bar offered up, showing it will have plenty of distance from the exhaust. :)

Brace bar brackets, fingers crossed I may have them by the weekend.

I'm confident enough to take the money now. Braces @ £100 each to those who said they wanted one before the cutoff, but that's at a substantial loss to Spitfire so the price will be more for the others. Plus the standard carrier charge which is £15 in the UK iirc and about £25 to Europe.

Paul,

Can you PM me how you want payment for the brace bar and if it does not fit (due to the 2bular exhaust) can I return it unused? I also need replacement tie rods as the first set you sent has substantial play, especially on one side.

Cheers

Max

Yeah I'll send you the new rods with your bar, may help if you remind me when you send payment for the brace bar. As long as the bits come back in an as new condition (which they should be from just offering it up or doing a trial fit) then you can send them back for a refund, that's not a problem.

How did you pay before?

The brace rods will be supplied to you in bright orange nylon mesh, if you leave this on while testing it will help you avoid any damage.
