Not wanting to rock the boat, don't get me wrong but i would LOVE a set, but how about getting a re-run of the OZ's? Sorry for the semi hi-jack ( i say semi as i'd happily take a set of SL's at the right price)

I'd prob be up for a set too

I'd guess £600 would be a fair price for a run - the Compomotives were £650 for a one-off set (ie two of each wheels) which included the charge for additional labour of setting / dismantling the casts

They are going to look at making a molding.

If they still make the same style wheels in 16 / 17 then they shouldn't need another moulding, getting the widths and offsets should just be a case of adding spacers to the cast (I can't imagine they will have ditched the original ones anyhoo  )

Now before this thread turns into a me me me, lets wait to hear what is on offer and take it from there.

Sorry :)

James - did you hear any more back on this?

I need new front tyres soon and am wondering whether I am likely to be able to get some new wheels and tyres thumbsup , or just get some new bridgestones fitted thumbsdown

Nope, i did call a couple more times just before the holidays, but didn't get much further. I'll try again next week. The motivation of finding someone to build speedlines right now has wavered a little too, as the new house is more of a money pit than i had thought (and i thought i'd thought it was going to be a pretty large one  )

OK great - please keep us up to date!

Aah I see! I somehow managed to over budget / save for stuff when I bought my place, and that's what funded me getting the VX :)

However, now that I want to move onto something else - probably in Ireland, being realistic it looks like the VX may have to go :(

It would nice to know how much a set of Speedlines would cost. I thought about buying some of the Plans mags ones, or getting some similar styled Dymags... but i'd bend mag wheels in about 3 hours i reckon!

Well houses with garages are quite rare in Ireland, and the VX wouldn't survive the Irish weather outside  so it would severely limit our house search.

I'll probably put it in storage here when we go initially (where we'll rent for 6 months or so) and then take it over if we buy a place with a garage, if not it'll have to go :(

Anyway, way off topic!

Any more news on this?

If you're too busy, i'm happy to take over communication with the supplier if you want to pass on the contact you were speaking to etc?

I did get an answer in the end and it was that it was probably too much effort. We'd need at least 50 confirmed orders and even then it wouldn't be guarantied

I don't see why it's so much 'hassle' for them - Compomotive made me up 2x16" and 2x17" with no further orders, and no complaints!

Yes but speedline italy are notoriously hard to get hold of and won't get out of bed for anything less than 50. brtish vs italian work ethic, simple.

Speedlines weigh a bit more than the standard wheels, so you wouldn't be doing this for weight saving reasons. Fine by me. I''d be one of the 50. And I've never seen any wheels, other than standard tubby ones, that look as good on the vx.
