My car was reversed into and has been repaired and resprayed..... problem is the man is telling me that the car's paint code doesn't actually match the paint colour  Now I know this has been talked about before but I can't find what I'm looking for via the wiki and DuPont. The colour is Sapphire Black and the model is July 2004 (it's a VXT btw). I know that there were a number of revisions to this colour.... If someone could let me know what he should be using I'd really appreciate it. He says there doesn't appear to be enough silver fleck in it. Stu

Jaffa of here had a similar problem with his Mandarin Vx, it would seem DuPont don't know their ass from their elbow. Whats the paint code on the drivers door pillar say ?

28U... but apparently there are 3 28Us. It's ridiculous. I'd ring Vauxhall but I know what they'll say.... "a VX what??"

Can the paint not be identified by the chassis no ? Via Vauxhall/DuPont, surely they should /will have records of which car, had which paint code, somewhere

Presume you've had the car since new and it hasn't already been resprayed?

Second owner but I'm 100% sure it hasn't been resprayed, there are just 3 28U revisions. He's using the VIN no. now and speaking to Vauxhall for me. That was about 2 hours ago so I'm hoping he's sorted it.

Would be interesting in the findings... please post details when you have them - and good luck!

Well according to this thread Clicky and another chart I found, the paint code for Turbo VXs and Speedsters is actually 2HU. For future reference there are 3 DuPont revisions for this code between January 2001 and November 2003. Mine appears to be P4353/2... I'll let you know how it goes.

Ok finally got to the bottom of this. Black Sapphire on the VXT post 2003 is not a Vauxhall colour full stop! It is actually a Lotus colour, Starlight Black Metallic, DuPont Code P4832, Lotus Code B93 to be precise. Perfect match thumbsup

Well at least black ones!! My Europa Blue was a direct match against the code on the door straight from the tin. thumbsup

PS Maybe not just black ones, I've seen some dodgy yellow resprays too.

lol indeed the joys of owning a black VX. Mine is definitely Starlight Black Metallic and not 2HU (even though the door says something different again....28U!!! :beat:). Just be sure to double check... :)

somewhere I read that the Lotus starlight black code should be the correct one it's B93 I believe. Maybe worth checking out. Oliver
