I think you need a/several (due to revisions) 2HU and the Lotus colour which Stuey mentioned to cover all options. Given what Stuey says above, we can conclude that 28U is a mistake (sounds remarkably like 2HU...) - I think especially since all the other colours have a number and two letters.

A few weeks ago I updated the Wiki with paint colour codes and links through to the DuPont site. My intention was simply to collate paint code information from a number of .org posts and sources and then link the manufacturer paint codes to DuPont codes.

Notably, both 28U and 2HU are referred to as 'Black Sapphire Effect' on DuPont. I also linked to the B93 Lotus 'Starlight Black' colour.

Finally, these hyperlinks to DuPont are as correct as I could make them. There are a LOT of paint code variations and alternatives on some VX colours, e.g. black, so clearly it is up to owners to double- and triple-check for themselves before actually ordering paint.

Note the graphic table at the bottom of the page was taken from a post submitted by The Insider, who apparently has some interesting sources of VX-related information.

According to THIS gallery, it's the same as Titan Gold!

Titan Gold / Capri Yellow - Pearlescent - Paintcode: 4GU

Edit: DuPont mentions "GIALLO CAPRI/TITAN GOLD EFFECT" - giallo being Italian for yellow.

Hi all . . . I've recently bought earlystocks ex VXT and currently returning it back to its former glory, the stone chips & gravel rash have been prepped for paint & now the paintshop cant locate the colour?? As the posts above the code on th car is 28U, but that cant be found . . 2HU looks too 'purple' so could it be the lotus code B93?? I've searched a load of threads but get conflicting responses? Cheers, Jamie

Just go to a paint shop itself and get them to test the paints they have on chips up against your car, theres nothing really on the vx to take off to colour match (such as a towing eye etc) so ask for a few samples then pick which is best. Thats what i have recently done with my window frame surround.

I had the very same problem with my VXT. It is an early 2003 model with 28U written on the door and of course it couldnt be found. So it was matched by eye and it was not 100% a match. So will have to respray it again after this summers stone chips have left their mark..!!

There are several different 28U's........the only way to tell which is on your car is to get the bodyshop to take the time to use some paint cards and do a match before painting. My bodyshop has done a fair few now and has at least three different 28U cards. Sometimes the problem is that the bodyshop just reads the codes and paints without taking the time to do that :-(

Thanks for all the advice . . . Car is now painted & a perfect match - surprising thing is that its actually Vauxhall Midnight Black  we've been all over the car and there's no evidence of respray so i wonder what happened the day mine was built??

Big thumbsup to Craig at Griffin Autos in Ampthill bedfordshire - cant reccomemend them enough for anyone nearby, done an awesome job on the paint & done the cambelt too. If anyone wants a reference of their work then you can happily inspect mine Imnotworthy

Booked in for ventureshield next week so it stays looking good
