and so far not a single thread? WTF? I can't comment of course as I don't have a PS3, but I expected a flood of comments and screenies...... Come on, what's the verdict? Worth splashing out on a PS3 for? or just another iteration of the same old bloody GT, no damage, crap AI, same annoying constant tyre squeal sample? Dont get me wrong here I love GT, but frankly I can't believe they have yet to overcome the damage modelling problem, also I gather the online mode in prologue is t!ts.

It's a demo?! It's not even a "proper" game.

Its 't!ts' a good or a bad thing?

Fella I work with reckons it'll be the best thing... well, ever! He's played a demo, or the Japanese version, or something and loves the GT games. Could be a GT Fanboy case though? I dont know but if its as good as he's said, and THAT much better than Forza I'll be buying a PS3.

Its not a demo coco, its a prologue. I appreciate the difference is slim but look at this way:

Demo = 1 track and a few cars - Free

Prologue = 6 tracks and, what? 50 cars? - £20

See? SCEE are philanthropists at heart

t!ts is a bad thing, there is no lobby and you can't invite friends. You just pick an event and it chucks you in with a load of random people.

And a VERY clever marketing team to use the launch of said paid for demo to shift more hardware.

Had a quick go on a PS3 that was rigged up in a shop in Portugal last week. Stunning graphics but didn't feel real at all compared to Forza. It was an Elise and didnn't handle anywhere near how I was expecting - lots of artificial oversteer any time you turn or touch the throttle and lots of stupid artificial sounding tyre squeal. I used to be a massive fan of the original GT games too. Ah well, I'll stick with Forza for now. I have to say, nothing (not even Forza 2) has matched the feeling that GT3 gave of the car moving about on its suspension and real weight transfer going on as you brake/accelerate and turn.

For me, no other game comes close and I don't mind that I have no damage showing because I don't get my kicks from crashing. All the previous Gt games have been excellent and I only bought a PS3 when GT prologue was coming out. I don't want it for any other reason but to play GT, that is probably quite sad but for me very enjoyable. I didn't realise that you can't race your mates though thumbsdown ^^^^^not ranting chinky chinky thumbsup

I will probably pick up a PS3 when the "proper" GT5 comes out tbh. There still isn't enough other than a demo to make it worthwhile.

From what I heard (and this may or may not be true) the damage modelling thing was simply because the manufacturers represented in the game wouldn't allow it.

Coco- your right there, apart from the prologue which I haven't played yet, all the other games seem to be pants. Ridge Racer  F1 just about entertaining if :drink: Along with the "demo" I got Sega Rally too, I'll let you know if its pants thumbsup

Sorry but thats utter bobbins, all the same manufacturers allow damage in Forza and the Toca series, why should GT be different?

Its like with the last version, they touted multiplayer on the PS2 as a feature and then binned it at the last minute cos it didn't bloody work.

I am not being an xbox fanboy here, I am a frustrated GT fan who is sick of getting the shaft with every version since the first one.

Furthermore; I dont get my kicks from crashing, I simply thing that if you tw@ a car off a tyre wall at 130 mph then the car really really ought not to simply carry on as if nothing happened.

The lack of damage modeling in game will lead to horrendous bumper car style multiplayer, you know exactly what will happen, every time you come to a corner someone will use you as a mobile barrier to stot off and get round the corner leaving you sitting in the gravel screaming at the TV.

[/quote] You raise a very good point, hadn't thought of that. I normally play GT with mates and if they do what you said above.....I knock them out :beat: Time will tell if I enjoy it but let me play it for a week and then at least I'll know what I'm talking about....will make a change  Although you can't play with friends you can post times in the time-trial section of the game with a ghost of your opponent

I have it waiting for me at home and will report back when i get my hands on it! Yes its paid for demo but the game isnt due till 2009 so for 6 trakcs and 71 cars i dont mind payin 17.99 from gameplay i was completely appauled with the GT HD demo that came out when the PS3 came out and was one of the reasons that i got rid of the PS£ originaly. I believe those that say its the best thing ever are proably fan boys you can race your mates but its not as simple as on the 360 (but its the PS3's limited online community that causes that) will update on the sound effects later too! oh and GT has never done damage effects and i agree tahts really crap!!

Just reading the booklet within the case and it says....

" Online race events…. Penalty –inflicting behaviour should be avoided, as should unsportsmanlike behaviour such as quitting races halfway through."

Player will incur penalties for…
• Colliding with other cars
• Ramming others off the road
• Short cuts
Colliding with boundaries

Whether that counts online too I don't know. The game will penalise you by restricting your engine power for a set time.

It's only a game as my wife keeps telling me

I got it last night on the way back from work... Turned her on.... had to wait 20 minutes while it copied stuff to the HDD.... then there was an update.... 40 minutes... then it failed... try again.. 40 minutes... failed... thought fuk it just play single player. Single player is good defo not as intricate as forza... this is due to the same old design of GT games where its just tyre squeel then loss of grip.. no real back end out that you can feel like in forza. Still well polished and looks awesome.. online is a bit crap but that probably becuase of the update issues it took me 4 tries then when it did work it took an hour so it was then 3am so probalby all yanks and asians. ALSO the Ferrari F1 car is in prologue... 2,000,000 credits tho... also there is no mods in the game just cars as they are. OH and theres no VX. hopefully the full game will have.

cant access the link cos im at work... but is this from polophony or someone guessing as I cant see how they can update the game to put on top of it deformation... it would be a MASSIVE update to load that much gfx data. Unless they add it into the full version which is also doubtfull as prologue historically is the exact game but smaller. If I recall correctly GT has never had deformation due to the licencing of the cars. Ferrari etc wouldnt allow them to show cars deformed incase some wolly thinks thats what really happens when you ram a fezza into a wall.
