im not 100% where you are but im guessing its either up a step ladder or through a door, unlike the old ones doors that look like they are shut and cant be walked through can be walked into in this one and they might open up....

as for the darkness, i found this on the ps3 version and on the ps3's setting (in the cross bar menu) under display there is a super white option make sure this is off and it brightens up alot.

If its 360 then i found it a little dark but searching your tv model number on a AV site can normaly bring up some good advice on what settings to use as my TV was dark with GTA but now its properly set up i hardly ever get a point where I cant see enough. (sometimes at night down dark alleys but thats about it.

I will provide some links if you give me your tv model number.

Yeah I noticed the darkness - I couldn't see anything!! The darkness is just the awful default display settings in the actual GTA4 game. To solve it, pause the game, go to the Video/Display setings, and you can adjust the Brightness & Contrast accordingly in there. Also take off the silly blurring effect too. (Oh, and if an enemy is behind a door that doesn't open, shoot the door handle.)

shooting the handle doesnt always work tho its only handles that can be targeted by holding the target button down.

penny just dropped thats probably where you are scuba. there is a mission where you have to shoot the door to get in.

I have to agree to a certain extent with BVS. The depth of the game is no where near as good as Vice City or San Andreas. Whilst you go all goggle eyed at the graphics, this only lasts so long. The variety of the missions is no where near as good as the previous offerings and I was hoping for a little more variety in the mini missions. The main missions are not hard enough either. I'm about 70% complete, and I've just done a mission whereby I had to go into a hospital and 'silence' someone. I strolled in, changed into some scrubs (which weren't hard to find). Walked up to the guy, did the usual 'L1' and ran out. Got into a car, called my GF who cleared my wanted level and that was it, mission over. Piece of p*ss. Would have expected more TBH.

Sooner not play with the cheats, and phoning a GF in those situations will kill it. Have to say I havn't bothered with that side of it, do your friends all like you???? WTF I dont care i'd sooner shoot them the annoying w@nkers. Still final decision is a tricky one, either option is a bad thing overall game was good. Overall not a patch on the previous versions, looks pretty but game itself is lacking perhaps the bolt ons will help

Getting your friends 'respect' level up IS part of the game. I don't think it's cheating to get your wanted level cleared, or calling one of my other GF's to get a health boost if I'm in danger of dying. They don't show up as cheats in my stats either. Best of all is that Packie will now leave me bombs at request which I can attach to cars and detonate at will! Great fun leaving a car parked up then blowing it up when a copper walks by

Well bored of this now - didn't keep me hooked really after I finished the single player. I agree with the lack of depth. So have traded it in for Battlefield Bad Company after playing the multiplayer demo - brilliant fun.
