Added Mani Husseins car and the engine Hi Perf Magazine tested. They performed dyno-tests on a gradually tuned engine. At the first test, straight-out-of the-box, the got 168 Bhp at the crank shaft. I suppose that a few extra horsepower can be released with some mileage, so whithout any inlet and outlet restrictions and with optimum fuel mixture the engine produces ~170 crankshaft hp.

Hi Clipping Point

Thanks for adding my car on... by the way it doesnt have a KN panel filter- decided it was not worth it

so my car has

Regal stage 1
Vx sports exhaust
~12k miles (time of testing)

hope above helps

Mani

I had my NA on the rollers at Dastek in Dalgety Bay, Fife today. Its totally stock with 8316 miles and I was using normal (ESSO) unleaded. Results after two runs were 154.9BHP @ 5500rpm and 157.6ftlb @ 4000rpm, both on run 2. I'm not too happy with the amount of info on their printouts compared with the likes of Star Performance (points are plotted at 500rpm intervals, so no exact rpm info is available, also no WHP, temperature or speed although these can be seen on the screen as the runs take place) but I like their set up and service so I booked another session for April (actually its a group session for CRX-UK but if there is anyone up here fancies a couple of power runs, let me know). Despite thinking I wouldn't be modding this car at all, the least I could do is get rid of the pre-cat eh? ;) :D Scott.

No problemo, we aim to please ;). A pre-cat removal and a remap maybe a low-budget alternative the picture is not chrystal clear yet, tho

Edited to say that "Scorpion" is doing exactly that. Will be interesting if he gets some RR results

Sadly Scorpion has announced that he is selling his VX/Speedster in favour of a dog! :o Thus, no report of his tuning will follow :(

There are power and torque graphs in the meets and events section under the AmD rolling road day.

Does this mean Rubbers cams have produced +10HP? ...or was his car already putting out more than the others with Milltek, Map & Viper (170 ish)? Where are your rolling road results prior to the latest changes Rubber?...would make for interesting comparason.

Cams added a clear 10bhp yes.

Even though those with milltek/viper/remap are putting out 175?

BHP's not everything anyway - would be interested to know how's it's delivered.

I am hoping that my Milltek+remap will produce 170-ish figures. The implementation of induction systems seem to give little if any effect, see table above. In any case, to reduce the filtration to gain 1-2 hp seem doubtful. It is not surprising that such extensive mods are necessary to reach +180 HP. More surprising that a mere remap + Full Milltek should give 170 HP.

Mine with flowed head but no cams yet :( gave 169 bhp on AmD's rollers. There is some variation on engines which is why some of them appear to give about 170 and some a little bit more. Shouldn't come as a great surprise. 170 to 175 is only a 3% variation. Not bad for a design tolerance... i certainly think that the headwork has helped with midrange torque on mine...
