After my hub bolts snapped the other week I need to order some new camber shims because mine are now scattered around Suffolk, I was just wondering how many I need to order, It'll be going for a geo soon but I need to at least get the wheel upright before I drive her. So, question is: How many shims do you have fitted to the rears? Oh, the list of replacment parts from the damage caused by the bolts is: Track control rods, got Splitfire ones now. Upper and lower Ball joints Driveshaft boot Lotus Hub bolts Camber Shims Axle Nut and split pin Brake lines, upgraded to braided lines Wheel arch liner Maybe a wheel, not decided yet. and about 10 hours of my weekends to do it all.

Park the car on a level surface. Use a builders spirit level on the good side, measure the gap at the top of the tyre (around 12-15 mm) when level is verticle. Go to the damaged side and repeat.. This will give you a very accurate measurement, if the ground is level.. (park it both ways round if unsure) You will end up with around 3 - 4mm of shims.... I say around because it could be 2 - 6 mm of shims, as every car is a bit different.... Good luck with the rear end.... Use even sided washers if just driving to garage.... Straight by eye is OK for slow driving to garage....

Surely you only lost the shims from one side...?

Check the other side

It is highly likely that the number of shims will differ from side to side, mine do. These cars are not built to precise tolerances. The car should be taken for a geo and camber angles set properly.

Yeah, thats the plan but at the mo it's only got one 3mm shim on and is holding quite a lot of negative camber, so I wanna get it at least in the ball park.
