Think you've answered your own question - if you're used to a VX and the Tiger gets your blood pumping then go for it.
I live near the Tiger 'factory' and they seem like a great bunch - very helpfull - one big family. They ran a 'have a go day' a few yeaars ago and invited me and other potential owners to go along to Bruntingthorpe for a blast. A great day out. Not sure if they still run them but owners were encouraged to go along and play as well - so a free track day
Tiger would def. be my choice if I was going down the 7 route but doesn't quite have the cred of a Caterham or Westfield. Never quite got my head around the looks of a 7 though so have been saving for a VXT.
Kit cars will always require tinkering and fixing - its part of their appeal (any different to a VX ?)
Who built the car? If it was the seller do you have the confidence that he's done a first class job. 9k is a lot to spend on a Tiger. I'd want to see lots of attentention to detail on the car, build photo's etc.
Give Tiger a call, they might know the car.

Jons car is insanely fast, stops and handles brilliantly but for me it would only make sense as a 3rd car TBH.
Loving the 7 at the moment, the 2 dry tracks days last week were absolutely amazing .
Balanced against that would be the drive home from 2 very wet trackdays the week before were I was soaked to the skin and totally frozen
If you plan on doing lots of trackdays then the 7 will be much better than a vx, but if your mileage is mostly on the road stick to the vx
I dont really know much about the tiger kit but when I was looking for a car it was recommended to go for a westie or a caterham. Not a fan of the tiger styling but then none of these cars are every going to be called pretty . A caterham would also hold its value a lot better than the tiger kit.
This car has a nice spec list

very good build diary www.tigersupercat.com its running on a 2.0l zetec which has done in total around 4k on twin 45 webbers.
water rail, vented discs front, discs rear, lsd, pretty much mint, all pipework is in silicone, cost about £14k in parts. so as supercats go its been well looked after.

I had a 200 bhp westy what i sold to dad when i got the vx, the westy is hard to drive it has to be a good day and u come back and cant hear anything but apart from that they are grate fun i have trouble keeping up with him around the lanes, i have a VXT
The vx is mutch more user friendly which is why i got it but i would deffo have another if i was just driving it at the weekend but i cant i love driving so i wanted somthing i could use wheneva i wanted, that is probably why your mate wants the vx
how oftern do u use the vx?
As above with me. I sold my Tiger super 6 and bought my VX. It was running a highly modded 160bhp pinto on twin side draughts. Great fun for little blasts but again I found I was not using as much as I could because of constantly checking things like the weather etc. Do miss it in some ways though.

Same again for me to, had a Tiger super 6, and it was great. Really enjoyed building it and it was a lot of fun to drive, but over the years im sorry to say that it eventually became a chore and it was always a constant battle with the weather. In the end I cut my losses and sold it (thankfully to a guy that lives just down the road so see it / hear it from time to time ) sold my 182 also and got a VX that i use every day.

And another. I built a Tiger Super 6 (2l zetec) it was great fun and still miss the sound and raw acceleration but it became a garage ornament (We just don't have the weather in this country). So I bought the vx and have used it every day for the last 3 years!
got a 2l zetec arriving tomorrow 165bhp. feather weight fun.
