VXJON has just gone from a heavily modded VX NA to a 160bhp caterham - i'm sure he'll be along with his thoughts. From my point of view, although it's not my daily driver, i use my VX as a car and as such couldnt ever replace it with a 7 type car. A wee bit of rain in the VX with the roof off is amusing, it's far from amusing after about 5 mins in a car with no windcreen ! ANd don't then say "ah but this one has a windscreen" cos they don't make much differences  Jons car is insanely fast, stops and handles brilliantly but for me it would only make sense as a 3rd car TBH.

Think you've answered your own question - if you're used to a VX and the Tiger gets your blood pumping then go for it.

I live near the Tiger 'factory' :D and they seem like a great bunch - very helpfull - one big family. They ran a 'have a go day' a few yeaars ago and invited me and other potential owners to go along to Bruntingthorpe for a blast. A great day out. Not sure if they still run them but owners were encouraged to go along and play as well - so a free track day rallly
Tiger would def. be my choice if I was going down the 7 route but doesn't quite have the cred of a Caterham or Westfield. Never quite got my head around the looks of a 7 though so have been saving for a VXT.

Kit cars will always require tinkering and fixing - its part of their appeal (any different to a VX ?)

Who built the car? If it was the seller do you have the confidence that he's done a first class job. 9k is a lot to spend on a Tiger. I'd want to see lots of attentention to detail on the car, build photo's etc.
Give Tiger a call, they might know the car.

:yeahthat:

Loving the 7 at the moment, the 2 dry tracks days last week were absolutely amazing Imnotworthy.

Balanced against that would be the drive home from 2 very wet trackdays the week before were I was soaked to the skin and totally frozen thumbsdown

If you plan on doing lots of trackdays then the 7 will be much better than a vx, but if your mileage is mostly on the road stick to the vx chinky chinky

I dont really know much about the tiger kit but when I was looking for a car it was recommended to go for a westie or a caterham. Not a fan of the tiger styling but then none of these cars are every going to be called pretty :gayfight: . A caterham would also hold its value a lot better than the tiger kit.

This car has a nice spec list

I had a Westfield for 3 years and thought it was brilliant but flogged it to buy a bargain priced Porsche 993 which I also had for 3 years. Now have a VXT which is fab and like Wrightster I prefer it to the Westfield purely because I can use it more often in the limited time I do have for playing and also find it more ameniable for "going places with the wife". Still think the 7's are brilliant and if you need to have the experience of having one then go ahead and get one, you'll have a blast in it. thumbsup John

very good build diary www.tigersupercat.com its running on a 2.0l zetec which has done in total around 4k on twin 45 webbers.

water rail, vented discs front, discs rear, lsd, pretty much mint, all pipework is in silicone, cost about £14k in parts. so as supercats go its been well looked after.

As above with me. I sold my Tiger super 6 and bought my VX. It was running a highly modded 160bhp pinto on twin side draughts. Great fun for little blasts but again I found I was not using as much as I could because of constantly checking things like the weather etc. Do miss it in some ways though.

Same again for me to, had a Tiger super 6, and it was great. Really enjoyed building it and it was a lot of fun to drive, but over the years im sorry to say that it eventually became a chore and it was always a constant battle with the weather. In the end I cut my losses and sold it (thankfully to a guy that lives just down the road so see it / hear it from time to time :) ) sold my 182 also and got a VX that i use every day. :)

I built a Tiger Super 6 (2l zetec) it was great fun and still miss the sound and raw acceleration but it became a garage ornament (We just don't have the weather in this country). So I bought the vx and have used it every day for the last 3 years! :D
