Well I was at Phoenix motorsport Accy yesterday (service), they had one of these in - Posted Image
What a machine it was :tt: standalone ecu 200hp VHPD engine. A lot of Kilos had been shaved off it too. Now the interesting bit, Stephen/Oli have had the whole set of clams and body replicated so it could be bolted straight onto an S1 elise tub. It will apparently also fit an S2 tub with a bit of tinkering (didnt ask about it fitting to the VX though  bit too impractical for the winter drive to work :D
Another intersting thing which I didnt consider at the time was when I asked Stephen about the headlights - they have had them replicated too - could be a bonus for VX owners if we can get our headlights /rearlights remade at a much reduced cost as apposed to the rip of vauxhall prices.

340R body is originally 1 big piece. No separate front and rear clams. Common for owners to cut the shell a little behind the passenger cell to make maintenance a bit easier. (2 to 3 person job otherwise to get the shell off) It may bolt onto an S1 or S2 chassis, but the windscreen would be wrong. 340R uses a smaller/lower windscreen than the normal Elise thats heated (no heater in the real 340R) Bye Arno.

I was there on Friday, the340r is a nice piece of kit but would not get much use in our climate. I took my car in for its 5th service good price for an A service very friendly and always reassuring when you pull up to see a number of elises exige 340r and another vx. They didn't mention the340r clams but I was to busy looking at a Honda installed Elise. cheers Oakmere

Yes it was a red one with a 2.4 manifold? If this was yours have you tried putting the the fuel pressure regulator pipe back to its original position? Mine felt much better after doing this. Noticed this as it was on the ramps when I arrived on Friday. Nice to see another vx there we were a bit outnumbered by the lotus cars. Cheers Oakmere

Yeah thats mine mate. I think I originally had the fpr pipe on the inlet pipe when I fitted the 2.4 inlet but it seemed sluggish mid range so I reomved it completely (think was under advice of Vocky), this seemed to perk it up a bit after ecu reset (placebo?) but maybe thats just cos the engine was still getting used to the settings and 'overfueling' at that stage giving a bit of extra umph. What setup have you got inlet wise? I think youve got the standard airbox still havent you? I was thinking of replacing the standard inlet pipe with a wider tube and a 90degree silicone elbow to the throttle body (I also have K&N filter on already). Dunno if this will improve anything, but all these little changes can make a difference to torque etc so worth a try, 15quid for an elbow and then a few quid for a bit of black drainpipe  could give me an extra 50bhp lol.

L.D - you scots are hardcore, that 340r looks great with a load of mud on it!! chinky chinky

[/quote] I used to have a larger inlet pipe and 90 degree elbow going to the original filter box but the original pipe seemed to give a better spread of torque. Though with the K&N things may be different? It would be nice to have a dyno to see if these smaller changes make a real chang or like you said it is just a Placebo effect. Cheers Oakmere

Mmmm i'd love a 340R. Sadly i just havn't got the garage space for one at the moment - driving it in the cold wouldn't bother me [its alot warmer than a bike] but it rains alot in wales, so it would be nice if someone designed a replica kit that kept the elise/vx roof. The original 340 aftermarket hardtop looks shite. thumbsdown Maybe someone should donate a car to someone chip foose and see what he comes up with :P

Well, there is that bent VX220 chassis on ebay at the moment... an 'Easy fix' apparenty  Not worth the money imo, but could be a cheapish track car if it could be got cheaper and the 340r body was a sensible price.
