i'd like to re-word what I said in an earlier post due to having a bit more information now rather than the initial "persuit" news reports. It's a really sad loss I really hope the passenger pulls through. whilst I try to keep my spirited driving to a minimum stories like this should be in the back of everyones head and serve as a reminder to think twice especially if theres the chance of there being other cars about whose actions cannot be predicted or expected. rest in peace

A very sad and sobering read. I have met Chris and his friends a few times and he clearly celebrated life to the full. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Update

Update regarding fatal collision – Water Oakley Windsor

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is no longer investigating the matter referred to them on the night of the collision.

Having conducted their inquiries, they are satisfied for the investigation to be conducted locally by Thames Valley Police.

Officers continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding Saturday night’s (2/8) collision which occurred along the A308 Maidenhead to Windsor Road.

Twenty-three-year old Christopher Ramirez, who was living with a family member in Windsor, died after his vehicle collided with two other vehicles – VW Golf and a Ford Fiesta - outside the Oakley Court Hotel at around 11.40pm.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.

His passenger, a female, remains in hospital this afternoon where her condition has been described as critical.

Anyone with information who has not yet come forward is urged to contact Sgt James Upton on 0845 8505505. If you don't want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Hi Guys, I was one of Chris' best mates. Thanks for the kind messages. Suzie (his sister) recieved your flowers today, and has asked me to say a big thankyou to you all for the kind gesture. It means alot to all of us, as Chris' car was his main passion in life, and it is the first thing we associate him with, he used to spend hours and hours working on it making it perfect, and nothing gave him more enjoyment than driving it. So for the VX220 community to send flowers and pay their respects, means alot to all of us. so thanks again guys, it really is appreciated. The funeral is in the process of being arranged now, so if any of you knew him or met him at meets etc, then your more than welcome to come to the church service with everyone. I will post details when we know for sure. Be careful out there guys, The car was almost unrecognisable afterwards, and you wonder if the outcome would have been the same had he been in a different car. I am seriosuly considering selling my Elise now after this. Take Care. R.I.P Chris. A genuinley lovely guy.

To add to what I've said previously: as others have mentioned, this has really made me think and I have driven a lot more carefully in the last few days.

I know this is of little salvation to Chris' family and friends at this time, but he continues to do good: every time I drive Vince, Chris will be in my heart speaking the voice of reason.

x

This awful news has made me think a lot over the last few days too. It's hard to find the words, but if any good can come from this, it's that we all think about our driving a little bit.

It does make you think about how very important life is too. I was deeply moved reading Chris's family's statement on the Thames Valley website, especially his sister's words.

Thank you Nick, Harvey and Zoe for taking the time to post (and PM) at this difficult time.

That sounds beautiful Harvey - it would be wonderful to get some VXs along.

Chaps, here is the other thread which I will update once I have heard back on a charity: http://www.vx220.org...mp;#entry763661

Hi Everyone, I am chris's girlfriend Faye and i would just like to thankyou all for your thoughts, sorry it's taken a while for me to post on here it has just been hard coming to terms with everything that has happened!! Chris's funeral was on the friday just gone, we gave him the best send off we could, i don't know if any of you came but if you did thank you!! And thankyou for the flowers left at the scene of the accident!!! He absolutely loved his car and was forever on this site, i have met a few of you when i went with him to meets and u all seemed like a great bunch of people, all I can say is he died doing something he loved which was going fast!! For those of you who didn't wait to hear what had actually happened and made your own conclusions I hope u can live with ur conscience, It was not a police pursuit as you now know and even if it had been no one deserves to die for it!! so thanx for your unkind thoughts!!! your not even worth anymore words!! So you know Rachel (the female passenger, Chris's brothers girlfriend) is doing extremely well and recovering alot faster than anyone could have imagined and i will pass on your kind thoughts to her family!!! Thanx again Faye xxx

Thanks ever so much for coming on and taking the time to post Faye - it means a lot to us. I'm sure you gave Chris the send off he would have wanted, and I pray that you all have the strength and comfort to get through this painful time. He will always be in your heart. x

about the accident

They were on there way back to chris's sisters house along the windsor road he was going about 60 (that is the speed limit) the car in front was going about 40 so he went to overtake and cleared the car he overtook but hit the curb wen he pulled in which sent him in to a spin and into an oncoming Golf!! They hit driver to driver and as far as we know Chris was killed instantly!!! It was a tragic accident and he payed the ultimate price but he didnt deserve some if the comments left on here from some others!!! xx

we all do use the car and all enjoy the power of it ...... simple costly mistake just make you aware its only a fiberglass box and i do think about it all the time i drive the car (not at the moment)
i knew chris and he did respect the car and the power of it ...
