Looking at google earth, it's a long straight that runs past the oakley court hotel.

RIP Chris. I'll pray for his Girlfriend too. When my daughter passed a mate sent me this poem Cry not for the loss of me For I have travelled far Gaze into the sky tonight And find your special star I will stand close by to you I’ll even hold your hand For I am nearer than you think Just in a different land I wish to see you smile again Shed not one single tear Celebrate the time we shared Tell the world that I was here! Chris was here and enjoyed his tragically short life :grouphug: to his family and that of his girlfriend and :grouphug: thats for us as we hurt too :( No more speculation please, his family may want to read this site.

Yeah, that (the smilie isn't really fitting given the situation).

I didn't know Chris but I always think the car community shows it's true colours when tragedy like this occurs with the messages of support etc. so there's a fair chance people close to him will have been reading this, or will do in the future - I hope that the messages above offer a comfort of some kind to anyone who knew him, althought obviously it will be a tiny amount, every little helps.

OMG Such sad news!! I met him a few times on Kent meets and the L2B - Just seemed to be really enthusiastic about his car like the rest of us. RIP Chris and my sympathies to everyone else involved.

Very sad news indeed. There is some more news on Seloc - apparently there was no pursuit (he'd passed a squad car at a petrol station) and as he was travelling quickly they pulled out to follow. The incident occured before the pursuit started. Also, apparently it is his brothers girlfriend who was the injured passenger :-(

If it wasn't a pursuit, then I hope Morgan1922 is the first to apologise after his potentially misguided comments were made!

As many have said before me what a tragedy. ANYTHING could of happened as we all know driving is sometimes never as simple as it looks, lets hope anyone else involved is ok including families, friends and loved ones. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Very, very sad news. RIP Chris. The thread on Seloc does indeed give a more detailed (and accurate) account of what happened. Here's hoping the girl involved makes a full and speedy recovery. Condolences to all those affected by the accident.

I had a feelign this would get posted on here.

the guy that crashed was my best mate Chris. The media have hyped it up a little bit, he wasn't "in a pursuit" he was driving quickly yes, and the police were sitting i n a petrol station on a national speed limit road, they pulled out to give chase as he was carrying a bit of speed, and he literally crashed straight away within 10 seconds of them pulling out, so it wasn't a pursuit as such. His car burst into flames straight away and was compeltely unrecognisable, It looked horirble, and witnesses say as soon as he hit the other car the clamshells both obliterated. The car didn't stand up well at all. and the weird thing is, is thta i was supposed to be going out for a drive with him that night in my Elise, but i didn't pick it up in time as it's at Steve Williams having some work done.

I just can't believe he's gone. R.I.P Chris

Not sure what to say very unfortnuate that that could happen to any of us, just a really shame that the reporting made him out to be failing to stop

RIP Chris

Another case of stupid media hype as always! Making up a story to get the most reaction! :9mm: RIP Chris, I hope the passenger makes a full recovery! My sympathies to everyone else involved.

Don't want to add speculation since we don't know the full story, but I hope the sudden appearance of a flashing blue light wasn't enough to cause a distraction. I'd like to know what caused it to burst into flames/how fast he was going etc; only the 4th fatal VX crash I can think of. Thoughts to family/friends.

Well as more details come to light this really does seem to be a tragic loss. Unfortunately the media have hyped this up unnecessarily with few correct details. If I'm honest I immediately believed this hype which is transpiring to be both untrue and an unfair reflection of the truth. I apologise for this. Regardless, there has been a tragic loss of life here. I didn't know Chris, but I did share the same passion for these little plastic cars as he did, as does everyone else on here. My thoughts go to his family, friends and those close to him. I hope his brother's girlfiend pulls through. Adam :grouphug:

That car was already a CAT D repaired write off, possibly a reason why it didn't stand up well? :( :o

R.I.P. Chris Paul BTW, Clams are supposed to collapse/shatter to absorb energy, it's the tub that needs to stay in one piece. In this case the fact that it burst into flames could be a key factor?
