They're a standard size unit and will fit into the VX's dash without any adjustments. Really easy to fit (although if you buy it from Halfords they'll probably fit it for free).
Legally speaking, your supposed to have the unit wired up to your handbrake so you can only watch DVD's while stationary (or if you fancy driving with your handbrake on). My unit had an override button any way, and Halfords were happy enough to ignore the wiring issue.
The user interface on mine is not ideal (very small radio station ID and track listing) in addition, if you've got several albums on an SD card, you need to use the supplied remote control to change album - fiddly and annoying but not the end of the world.
I too wired it up to an amplified sub

Fits nicely behind the seat

If you've got the standard speakers, you may want to upgrade those too to get some decent midrange and highs.

I've got the Ripspeed DVD-730B which is probably the model before the one your looking at. Works really well. I've not had a disc skip or jump yet and you can actually watch a film on a screen that small!

Wires typically go up through the centre console, then up that bit of curved metal seperating the footwells, then up into the under-dash area above the passenger footwell. You can also get to the battery under there via a grommet.that is a nice peice of kit desperate for abit of base where did you hide all the wires running from the head unit ive got the ripspeed 720 you think i coud run two of these badboys?
Doubt you'd get two in, there doesn't look like sufficient room behind the passenger seat (and bear in mind that you won't be able to put the drivers seat all the way back either).
Mandarin's solution is better but more expensive and requires an external amplifier. I had very similar in my old VX (soon to go into the new one) and it added some much-needed kick - and because it's right behind you it doesn't need to be loud, so you don't end up sounding like a chav.

There's someone else on here with one of these and he's put it behind the pax seat. I'm not sure, but I think that would hamper the sound. I ran the wires under the plastic cill trim then up under the dash. You get an additional 'volume' control too (which has a nice blue led - gives a nice blue tinge to the cockpit at night) which I just mounted under the dash. This is useful for adjusting the amount of bass whilst on the move as some music needs a bit more 'kick'

Mandarinvx's setup is reallybut you lose the shelf and it probably weighs as much as an n/a

TBH you really don't need two of these. I've never had the volume on it above 1/3 and have the 'loud' setting on the headunit switched off!
sound gone buy just the one then
