My black plastic sill cover cracked. I glued and supported it underneath but it doesn't look 100% and I really can't see the point of a new one. It occurred to me that it would be better simply covered. Has anybody done this? I'm thinking: 1) Black carpet glued on. This would probably not follow the triangular patterns so would give a smooth effect. 2) Suede/alcantara glued on. Would follow the triangular pattern possibly or just look like a dog's dinner when it does half and half... 3) Leather. Possibly combined with having the centre console done. Prob rather pricey though :( Perhaps the triangles can be filled in but I don't want to add too much weight to the car ;) Suggestions?

just leave it, most VX's you will se are cracked there, mine is and my last one was. Then added with the scuff marks from peoples shoes, I also think that if you cover it you may to recover it later due to damage etc. if you do "slide" over it. just my 2p :)

Whatever you do make it easily re-doable in case it becomes damaged. Leather (or fake leather) will probably work better as your bum will slide over it. I like the idea of carbon effect leather but maybe when seats and centre console are also done, some time the distant future.

I had the same problem, I looked at getting them covered in Leather, I think alcantara would mark too easily. Also looked into replacing them, in the end I got them both flocked for just over half the price of a new one from vaux! Flocking is hard wearing, easily cleaned, waterproof and cheap! It is pretty permanent, well it is possible to remove but wouldn't be an easy job.

Is flocking something I can do myself or is it a specialist deal? Also, any pics of yours?

Edit: I can't do it myself but it looks good :) Love to see some pics of flocked bits in VX220's.

Well, you could do but I think you might get better results from the pro's.

Looks good on the dash - have to consider that one day. On reflection, probably not ideal for covering a cracked sill so I may just go with a faux leather of some description. I'm obviously not getting in and out correctly

Just an idea. Clean them up as best you can (ie a propper good clean). Glue the crack as neatly as possible with epoxy leaving a little a mark as possible. Then spray it with vinylkote. This will give it back its colour and give it a bit of a refresh without covering etc. Should look reasonably original if, for some bizzarre reason, you want rid. HTH? Matt

They need to be slippery to slide over so the only options are standard, leather or carbon fibre in my mind.

Reminds me of "eleanor", did a quick seach but didnt turn anything up. "eleanor" had leather sills, leather dash plates etc..... Am I even f'ing spelling it right? The Lotus S2 ones are easier to get over anyway cos the sill is narrower (it definATELY seemed so to me kast time I drove one).

YOB: Yes, like that but in black not red. Looks good:

FLD: I'd not heard of vinylkote but it looks like a miracle product! It would seem well suited to sprucing up door cards, dash etc. as an alternative to alcantara or adhesive vinyl. Anybody tried it for that?
