I am keen on reducing weight in my CS2 VX220 turbo. Seems a much cheaper way of getting performance! Stats say the car weighs in at 930kg (new) and I would love to get sub 900kg. I believe the NA is lighter but obviously any ideas could help both types of VX. I will be looking to do the obvious ones such as: Wheels - Looks like 10-12kg can be saved with TD1.2s Miltek - I have and saves 6kg I guess the softop is lighter than the hard top (dont yet have hardtop), but which is included in the factory stated weight? Any other ideas that wont break the bank?? Are aftermarket rads lighter? Lighter/smaller battery?

Presume you don't want to lose comfort/functionality (so removing dash/door cards/centre console/passenger seat/footrest etc. not an option?)

the h/t is heavier but not imo by too much and i wonder if the more slippery surface will out weigh in terms of less drag.

If you are after a hardtop the OEM ones are heavier than the after market ones... just something to bear in mind!

Yeah - that all looks pretty serious. Would like to keep a bit or comfort as it is my day to day car. i guess seats would be a good option but cost ££££££££££

Replace the OEM rv mirror with a halford £6 jobbie, small neat light Start with unsprung weight, wheels, suspension, brake disks. If you want more power, then consider during normal wear and tear , replace clutch with upgrade proof stronger Group N and also lightweight flywheel. The Miltek uses 304 steel, whereas the 2bular uses much expensive and better 321, its ultra light compared that its also a 3" system.

the "best" weight loss for performance on the car is YOU.... consider most drivers add 10% weight to the car, saving 1-2kg here and there isnt going to change much in reality.

the removal of rotating mass is also more benificial as it reduces the inerta making the car accelerate faster.

Save approx 9 kilo's with THESE alubells. (Signivicant) improved braking and steering comes with it in one package! (Don't forget to tell Geary you want them with bells suitable for the VX or you might end up with a 4 hole bell :tumble: )

HERE'S the reason where the weight saving is. One the second pic you can see there more space for air to cool, thuss less metal. This together with the lightweight bell saves more than 2 kilo's on each wheel. (on the second page there's some questions being answered in your language )

After reducing unsprung mass I guess it's better to lose weight from the rear rather than the front.

Remove boot carpets.
How much does the pre-cat replacement pipe save?

Keep in mind that the 930kg is a dry weight, by the time you add fuel, brake fluid and oil that will take it up at least 10kg's. I got my car weighed recently and it was 915kg, that is with TD's, Milltek, Smaller alloy drive pulley, aux pulley removed, tensioner and bracket removed, no stereo or rear parcel shelf and speakers. To get significantly lower costs a fair bit, things to look at are, Alloy belled discs Carbon Seats Carbon Bonnet and boot lids Lightweight battery & other carbon bits
