Replace the OEM rv mirror with a halford £6 jobbie, small neat light

Start with unsprung weight, wheels, suspension, brake disks.

If you want more power, then consider during normal wear and tear , replace clutch with upgrade proof stronger Group N and also lightweight flywheel.

The Miltek uses 304 steel, whereas the 2bular uses much expensive and better 321, its ultra light compared that its also a 3" system.

Nice idea with the mirror - I was wondering where to get one of these. is the Halfords version the best buy?
Clutch and flywheel will surely come at some point but gotta re-mortgage soon which should put it off for a while!!!!!
2bular is tempting but got the Miltek cheap so..

the "best" weight loss for performance on the car is YOU.... consider most drivers add 10% weight to the car, saving 1-2kg here and there isnt going to change much in reality.

Doing a marathon in 10 weeks so should be skinny as F**k at the end of 26miles!!!!

After reducing unsprung mass I guess it's better to lose weight from the rear rather than the front.

Remove boot carpets.
How much does the pre-cat replacement pipe save?

Was thinking along the same lines as I never use the boot. I guess the 6kg weight saving stated with the Miltek includes the pre-cat replacement pipe. I binned the U bend shielding on the zorst as recommended by Ctnys - guess that saves a bit. Not much else left at the rear hey !

Keep in mind that the 930kg is a dry weight, by the time you add fuel, brake fluid and oil that will take it up at least 10kg's. I got my car weighed recently and it was 915kg, that is with TD's, Milltek, Smaller alloy drive pulley, aux pulley removed, tensioner and bracket removed, no stereo or rear parcel shelf and speakers.

To get significantly lower costs a fair bit, things to look at are,

Alloy belled discs
Carbon Seats
Carbon Bonnet and boot lids
Lightweight battery
& other carbon bits

Any ideas where to get a light racing type battery that will be up to the job - will research myself I guess.

I had all the interior stripped out of my stage2 VXT for a couple of weeks recently while I was wiring in some gauges , just had the drivers seat and seat belt fitted so I could still use it for work and it was noticebly quicker.

One of the German tuning companies sells them for the Speedster - often listed on ebay :)

Legally I think you only have to have 2 mirrors (don't quote me on that if the BiB or MOT chaps ask that) so ditch the rear view mirror all together! Can't see poop out of it anyway!

Also am I right in thinking those Lovely French chaps are making carbon fibre clams?
