Must admit though I do like the layout and design of it all.  :)

you could see past all the treacle and slushy mush to dig the design?

weirdo lotus owner.

seriously! I'm a web designer and at one point I caught myself thinking "this is actually quite well done". Had to slap myself. :beat:

You've got to hand it to them though, they've done a fantastic job of marketing themselves. Doesn't answer the question 'why' though.

Yeah the burning question is "why?" I can understand putting a video or some pics of your wedding on the web for the benefit of distant relatives and friends who couldn't make the big day. But why make a bloody big feature out of it? No-one else really gives a toss  And a video of the proposition... I'm sure a lot of ladies and heated seat users poof like it though.

I guess they wanted to do it in the same way celebs who sell poses to Hello and OK magazines do, but without the wedge.

Thanks exjagman, Infact I have done over 40 vauxhall dealers, the VX220london.com site, the new-vectra.co.uk site, Im the official designer of Vauxhallsportscarclub.co.uk and a lot of other Vauxhall web design side of things. Those of you that checked out my porfolio will see I started my own company shortly after launching themarriage.co.uk, and you know what, its has been the most succesfull thing I done, I have so many clients, and clients waiting for me to carry out work, Im booked up till september... why ?? Believe it or not, cause of the "sad site", it turned out the site I created while messin about at my old job got so much attention, all over our local newpapers, lots of national newspapers, radio interviews, BBC new TV interviews, newspapers in Hong Kong, Syndey, all over America, and I had to do live radio interviews to US, even invited on Richard & Judy. Now, ask any company, how much they would have paid for that kind of advertising, to get THAT well known, by so many people. I can not tell you how much interest in my web design it has created, think of it as a showcase for my work. For example, since the posting here, I have had 8 new phonecalls / emails for new work. See how it works now. Sure I have to put up with people posting about it being sad, but just think of it this way, not only are they sad enough to look around a site they know nothing about, nor the people on it, they actually write and post about it too, now, who has used their time "sadly" ??? Each to their own I say, i didnt ask you to go look at the website, sure you wouldnt care unless you knew me, I dont expect you to, I dont expect you think Im good looking either, hell Im no looker thats for sure, I dont care admitting it, thats not the reason for the site, it was meant for friends and family, just that it got more attention than ever expected, and worked to my advantage in a big way. Also, everyone keeps photos from their wedding whats wrong with doing a site and keeping that to remember the day. I was paid by my previous employer to create the site, as it was during free time I had with them. You could say and 11 year old girl wouldnt give a sh*t about a vx220, but you dont see her posting on her forums, how sad this site is cause so many people love their vx220's do you? Thanks for listening, stick to your own thing, leave the personal family stuff out of it.

Scooter, you posted your 'family stuff' up there. Its the internet FFS, everything is fair game. You want to protect your family from 'net critique, then perhaps, just perhaps you could've used something less personal than your happiest day to advertise cut your webdesign business, eh? Your whinge is as limp as Zeta Jones' lawsuit against paperazzi posters when she'd sold her wedding to Hello magazine.

very true indeed purebob, agree with you there, people can say what they like about the "family stuff" as I have it up there, posted. I was just making an answer to the "why" and proving that I wasnt some sad geek that sat up all night doing it 'cause im sad and a techyhead, it was done during paid company time, as apposed to a whinge about the family comment thing, were all allowed our own opinions! The world would be sh*t boring if not.

You have to love the interweb, I mean where else can you openly make a statement available to literally millions of people.

To give you a comparison, name a busy pub you can walk into and shout your opinion about any subject and expect the whole bar to agree with you.......it doesn't exist.

Bottom line about websites (that includes comments on forums) is that if you post/create it you have to stand by it, it's open for all to see.

I share a good deal about my life on the web, a lot more than others would be comfortable with (and a whole load more thna my wife knows :D ) but there some things which are sacrosanct, for me that includes elements of my wedding day, birth of our son and dare I say it, my proposal (some of which is simply too crude to post up ;) )

All credit to scooter for the technical skill and he's entitled to post what he wants on whatever site he wants, I sure as hell wouldn't do it but then thats simply my opinion.

However what I don't understand is the desire to 'defend' oneself I have no problem with people thinking of me as some kind of sad car nut, if and when they got to know me they'd know this was true I'd hope they'd see a bit more than that. :) but I don't see the need to justify myself to anyone who criticises (well not always anyway).

Good luck in your marriage mate (my comments on divorce were obvioulsy tonghe in cheek) but don't expect any degree of sympathy from the World at large if things go wrong.

Its not about the money dude, nor was that ever the intention of the site, if it was, that would have been one of the most sucessful business ideas ever. The noticing my web skills was pureley a bonus...

All the media attention, maybe thats why your thinking sell out, but not at all, every single thing was done for free, man if you watch the BBC article, how many people can show their kids something like that.

A big part of it was Helens great auntie + uncle, who were going to be a big part of the wedding, he was very ill that day, and couldnt make it, they were devestated, however being old that they are, they are both very good with a computer + the internet, and kept looking at the site to see how the day went and what they missed.

After the wedding you would not believe how many people wanted to find out about the big day, we had a true interest in our wedding and how it went. So thats why i updated it slowly with new stuff. We heard from so many old school friends and others we had lost contact with.

So the drive was friends and family, then so many people wanting to here about 2 very normal people at a so very normal wedding (plus a penis cake), that kept us updating it.

The money never once came into it, as it all happened after the site was done, but I wouldnt ever lie about it, it really has helped out and got my known for webskills almost everywhere.

Foxy - Man if thats a representation of your penis, im glad Im no woman, and sorry for any that are involved with you :P

Hey, its simple.......

After the increase of phone calls and enquiries for work, I know the site has been posted or discussed about somewhere, just check the stats of the website, it comes up with all referring sites.

No hidden grasses from this board, your safe.
