Congratulations!

How can I share my joy?

Post a message in this, the 'Newbies & Forum Guide' section, introducing yourself and your VX.

Also, add your details to this thread - which records owners against build numbers (the last four digits of the VIN).

The Useful Thread Collection

This can be found here, and is maintained by members. It contains all sorts of forum threads that people have found useful, and is a good starting point for information on how to do something on the VX.

Is the car about to explode?

It is likely that someone else will have had the same problem at some point, so spend a little time searching the forum (see the 'Using The Forum' sticky for help on using the search facility).

If you want to get your hands dirty, there are many "How to..." guides created by members. Some of these are linked to in 'The Useful Thread Collection' mentioned above, and others are scattered throughout the forum - so have a search.

The VX220 Technical Information System (TIS) can be found here.

If you'd rather stab your eyeballs with a fork than delve about under the bonnet, a number of garages are frequented by forum members. Either search the forum (including the reviews section mentioned in the last section on this page), or post asking for recommendations in your area. Not many are Vauxhall main dealers, since in general they are not the first choice for forum members. It is also worth noting that not all Vauxhall main dealers are authorised (by Vauxhall) to work on VX220s.

Parts catalogue

The VX220 parts catalogue (EPC - Electronic Parts Catalogue) can be found here. This is extremely useful not only for finding out part numbers - but also, for example, discovering whether a particular item can be obtained on its own, or whether it comes as part of a larger unit only.

Where can I buy VX220 parts?

Any Vauxhall dealer authorised to deal with VX220s, should be able to obtain parts for you.

Alternatively, Autovaux and LMF Vauxhall are used by forum members. Both can order parts for you, and often at a better price than a main dealer could offer. Their web sites do not tend to be up-to-date, so it is better to ring them.

If you are after used parts breakers, eBay, and the forum's For Sale and Wanted section are all good options.

What's the paint code for my VX?

On your car, the paint code can be found in the bottom left-hand corner of the sticker on the driver's side door jamb. Alternatively, paint colours and codes can be found here - just click on the swatches at the top of the page.

The alarm keeps going off on my VX

Certain wireless doorbells and house alarms trip the VX alarm. If the siren keeps going off, but the lights don't flash, this could be the problem.

If changing the offending article isn't an option, after-market alarms for the VX are discussed in various threads on the forum.

How can I find out what products/services forum members recommend? How can I let others know about a great product/service I have received?

Reviews can be read/posted here.

To view more posts, alter the settings in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
