To really improve the view thru the grill you need to remove the rocker box -- not a major job but a bit fiddly -- and buff it up with an electric drill, buffing wheels and some compound. Got mine up to a mirror sheen and finished with Solvol Autosol. Looks really good but a new oil cap would be nice too. But sure to use a torque wrench to replace the rocker cover bolts to the correct torque. If you're careful you can re-use the rubber sealing gasket. Griffo

It even looks a lot better if you do the easily accessible bits without removing it. When I got mine I removed the "Ecotec" label too (unnecessary weight :P ) and just did it all with Solvol Autosol – couldn't be arsed to take it off – law of diminishing returns

I was sooooo pleased when the local Opel garage daubed bl**dy black paint on it to signify that the timing chain had been done :beat:

One of the Swiss guys with a red Speedster has painted the cam cover in matching red à la Testarossa – perhaps not too good to colour code if you've a yellow VX, but then OTOH the caps wouldn't stand out so much

A buffed-up shiny cam cover would look ace, but how long would it stay that nice considering how exposed to the elements it is?!?

I've finally got some replacement caps. Just got to make sure they fit (should do they use OEM parts) then I can take some piccies. They're brushed ali.

All being well I should be able to post some pics tomorrow night. Sorry it hasn't been sooner but I have to rely on a mate with a camera and the necessary expertise! For now you will just have to trust me that the header tank looks really nice. If anyone wants one PM me and I'll sort the tel number out. I am also thinking now about having an alloy mounting bracket made. I read Ricky 2772's lightening thread and the standard one seems a bit porky.

As a quick fix I sprayed them silver. Looks fine to me. Now no problems with those in your face yellows. Dave

I didn'y buy a car like this JUST to enjoy the view out of the windscreen, I bought it to enjoy it for whichever angle I, or anybody else for that matter, looks at it! I don't want just a good view, I want a car that does exactly what I ask it to do and look good at the same time! Have a bit of pride in what you've got cos yellow plastic is not the way ahead!! ;)

I for one am glad there on the way. My credit cards waiting for the moment they pop into the shop. I believe they are colour coded yellow to help identify the areas that require regular maintenance. Once fitted I will be worried that when I take the car to my dealer for a service they wont know where to add the water and oil ;)
