Starting to get somewhere now...

Posted Image

Then polishing up the exhaust side

Posted Image

Posted Image

Hard to capture the polished effect, and the camera picks up every spec of dust

Posted Image

Posted Image

And finished

Posted Image

I haven't done anything with the top of the combustion chamber, as I don't have the equipment to take very accurate fluid measurements, so just gave them a bit of a clean up

Thats the very first pass, from the valave head side, I've taken quite a bit off the dividing central piece, and flattened the walls out too I'll get a pic :) There's no need to open out the port size as it's already about the same size as the manifold (tho when I finally get an SC one I may have to fiddle with it again)

This is the inlet side - I could have taken more off the divide, but called it a day before doing any irreversible damage :)

Posted Image

The crucial part on the inlet is the very restrictive area just beneath the valve, as the port sweeps nearly 90 degrees on itself back toward the manifold. This is where I had to buy the carbide burr for fear of burning the Dremel out

Posted Image

Prob remove about 1/4" on each port here

Thanks again to Vocky for the guidance thumbsup

I ordered a couple of square yards of the carbon fibre fabric N1k found on the BMW forum, via JJJ

Really good quality material, and has a bit of stretch to it too :)

Posted Image

So had a play around with one of the easier, smaller dah plates today

Posted Image

Posted Image

I think it looks great B)

I think I'll try to do the door cards and steering shroud too, maybe even a centre console if I'm feeling brave!

Cool, cheers mate chinky chinky The material is actually pretty thin, part of the reason why it has a bit of stretch, it does make it easy to work with, but I wouldn't want to use it for any areas that need to be particularly hard wearing :)

A few pics of the GM set I ordered from Allecotec

Intake - new on the right; these are nitrated stainless, with an undercut stem

Posted Image

With single grooves for the keepers

Posted Image

And the exhaust - these are inconel, again with an undercut, new on the left this time

Posted Image

Posted Image

And the GM double valve spring kit

Posted Image

It looks like I will need to fit the valve guides too, as they are slightly smaller than stock

Had a go at some door cards today with the carbon fibre material, I like it :) and sprayed the door handle guards satin black too

Posted Image

Also got a stainless tow bracket from simsy, which I've now primed and painted black thumbsup

Harder than expected - this was the third attempt Came to the conclusion that 3M no. 90 spray glue and Bostik All Purpose Adhesive are the best combo to use :)

Well done - looks good. Glad you tried it out first!! Going to give mine a go next week.

What caused it to be harder than expected?? How come 2 adhesives??

The spray glue is hard to get to grips with, the cheap stuff doesn't give enough hold and is too watery; the intermediate stuff (Maplins version) gave good hold but was lumpy  I used the Bostik to stick down the fabric edges behind the panels, and also used a bit where the spray glue doesn't give enough hold - around the window winders and the handle area on the door cards; only a small amount is needed. I found it best to let the spray glue sit for a few mins before applying the material - you only really get one shot with positioning tho!

Oh yes, I meant to mention - the spray glue in LIDL is called Flash Bonder. It says it allows repositioning for something like 60 mins or something - can't remember the exact figure, but it seemed impressive. Mention of it here for one
