I know where the red "Two Tubs" car is. It has not been ringed and put on the road, it is tucked up nice and warm and dry in a workshop and will be used as a development car for future VX220 bits.

Hi Im sorry i have only now got around to replying to this but we have been at a funeral for a very good friend  all day some of you might of known him (Ant from datum motorsport) so please bear with me

The VX in the add is the famous "chassis damaged" car and we at ES have never tried to hide this and never will. (we put the number plate back on for this reason)

We are selling as a Track use car yes it would MOT but we will never do this or advise that's up to the new owner it has had allot of work at ours and we have geo'd the car and its okay we have done some work on the chassis but some repair work had been done before we got it and it looks nothing like the photos on here

We did repair a car using the parts from this chassis when we first got it but then decided to build it back up as a track car but we have too many cars now and it just sits in the yard looking sad and sorry so we decided to sell it like i said we could of hid the fact it is what it is but we haven't

Thanks for your time

Phill @ ESmotorsport

I hate the fact when someone sells a track/race car that has no cage When I read the description you didn't mention the chassis damage which in my mind tells me you are hiding the fact due to not stating it

The Elise,Exige VX all left the factory with only a roll over hoop does that make them not suitable for track use ?

I don't do the E bay adds but once i get to work tomorrow will get the guys in the office to change the add

Im sorry if we have upset some of you we never intended to do this. we have a very good rep in the Lotus community and really look forward to working with some of you guys in the future.

I'd feel a lot better about the whole thing if you gave me a set of your new dampers to trial  :D

So it's now a "track use car" -  is that really acceptable? Seems to me that it would be more dangerous on track (driven on limits and cornered hard) than on the road

Mine isn't a race car nor am I selling it as a track or race car.

I actually bid on a cage on eBay the other month though. Too much wedge tho.

Standard roll hoop in my opinion is suitable for road/track but not track only or race when you can really push to the limits

All in my opinion off course.

I don't think upset is the correct word tbh We all care about VX's...we just don't want this example mis sold and then dragging the car/.org dragged into the mud. I still think you'd do better to scrap the bastard thing; you'd probably make more on parts on here that way anyways Are you really that comfortable somebody tracking that car with that damage? I sure has hell wouldn't be

Phil, I just spent half an hour reading all the threads on this car. It's an horrendous tale from start to finish. I personally think you and your guys should do the same and read all the threads, not just this one. i'm sure you'll realise that this car needs to be broken up and NOT sold on.

it's held up for over 50k with the damage, fine to sell it for a track slag.

as long as buyer knows what they're getting it's fine.

It should be all well and good as a track car if it handles well and doesn't get introduced to a barrier backwards. Not sure how the torn section will fatigue with it's buckles and the higher loadings of track use

I know a fair few cx track gurus and track cars are a hell of alot better maintained than road cars IMO and this one needs splitting for parts. Maybe speak to Eliz on here chinky chinky

Its obviously never going to be as strong as the manufacturer intended, and I for one wouldn't fancy what would be an unintended extra crumple zone in my car!! Break it up and sell it for bits before someone gets hurt.

The difference of opinion on chassis strengths after modifications (intended or not) seem to vary a lot. Some people think the chassis is compromised by removing a few cm's of material around the fuel pump access hole and others think a car with a chassis beam bent like a banana is fine to use to extremes on track.

I'd rather watch it get run over by a tank than drive it at maximum attack round a track all day

Some of us have been on this site long enough to remember TWO owners discovering that their pride and joy had severe chassis damage, yes the same fecking 'dog' in this thread. The second owner wanted it scrapped and sold it to a breakers yard so it would be destroyed.

ES Motorsport bought the car and said they would cut it up, they haven't, instead they have put it on ebay and suggesting it can be put back on the road.

Someone else will eventually post saying they have bought a lovely black vx220 with LPG and then be told of this thread, I hope they contact Trading Standards when they do.
