Does anyone have tips or specific tools required to remove the seats. I would of imagined it would have been in the useful threads the amount of grief mine have given me! Maybe not everybodies is as stiff They all seem to require different techniques. The front nearside is hard to get to or see. The inside rear requires a long shaft? What have you used?

An allen set for sockets, and a few extension bars

You'll need a spanner for the front driver side ones

The nearside front pax one is the worst, many use a cut down allen key, but I bought one of these sets - really handy, and they've come down in price a fair bit too

Being a DIY numptie myself taking the seats out was a daunting task. Having now done it three times (due to numptiness when misfitting my harness) I am now very confident. It's actually a simple job, if you're able to unscrew and screw things then you can do this. It's not as painful as it sounds as long as you have the RIGHT TOOLS, that's the big difference. I've seen people take the seats out in under 15 minutes. Top tips: 1. For the passenger front bolt (the tough one) you need a ratchet spanner set (I like the look of Manadarin's set), Halford's are also offering a good deal on wratchet spanners with the allen key adaptor. If you have this tool it's pretty easy to get the bolt unscrewed. A ratchet mechanism is crucial as it makes life so much easier. 2. 13mm socket for front seat driver preferably with magnetic ends. 3. A couple of long extensions for socket set for the rear bolts again using magnetic ends to hold the bolts. 4. Mark with a pencil which holes you took the bolts out so you know when putting the seat back in. 5. On the drivers side look out for the T shaped piece under each of the rear bolts. 6. Put a towel over the sills and gear surround to prevent the seat runners scratching the car when moving lifting the seats. 7. When screwing the bolts back in put small towels around the holes to catch an escaping bolt. Nothing worse than seeing the last bolt roll under the seat

There is indeed a guide in the useful threads (from 2006) albeit within Christurbo's "how to" on fitting a harness bar, as obviously you have to remove the seats to do this!

Getting the hump with my passenger seat!! The really really awkward bolt at the front - I have got an allen key in there and Id say the size is 5.5?? Is this right? 5 is too loose, 6 is too big. I temporarily bought a halfords ratchet set an hour ago to see if I could get the right fitment - went under the seat ok, but the allen key was 5 or 6, no 5.5!! I don't mind spending £30 if I can get the right one!! Any help with a tool that will do it would be appreciated, looked at the teng set looks good just want to make sure it has the right bit!!

The teng set definately has the right bit, and I'm 90% sure it's the 5mm hex you need Don't force it tho, Joe_589 round his off recently - may be worth a pm to see how he fixed it

Took my seat out last week and mine was definately a 6mm allen bit.

OK, maybe it's a 6mm Not half size tho, as my kit doesn't come with them - I tried using cheap bits at first, but they were way undersize - maybe that's the problem

Yep, it is a 6mm bit so must of been the cheap bits I'm using. Finally got the seats out and it is easy once you know and have that little tool. I had these 2 little black bits with holes in just fall away from the back of the drivers seat. I assumed they were to heighten the seat so I put them between the floor and the seat. Seat now seems to high as rubbing on the headrest things. I take it I haven't put them in the right place?? Any suggestions??

These fit under the bolt, above the runner, not below.
