Wooohooo. There's a man who sounds like he might make a Beds/Bucks meet before the summer is out. thumbsup Glad you're getting to the stage where it's just the annoying little bits that need doing.

Yeah, the ever-delayed May meet at this rate! :D

A frustratingly long list of annoying little bits. And the chasing after the wrong parts doesn't help. :( There are so many things that I am doing that are not on the list above. For instance I am supposed to drop the last batch off at the paint shop for the end of next week. That means that I have brought a door home this weekend to strip down and clean as much as is reasonable.

It's going on a Q-plate so not worrying about those stickers at least for now. The first thing that comes to mind thoough is that really strong but thin and clear double-sided tape.

How many dead bodies will it hold? The Mafiamobile that is. It held 4 tires and 2 rims in the boot without folding the seats down!

Posted Image

As you can see the tires are off to be mounted. The last batch of fibreglass parts goes off to the paint booth tomorrow. However, the fibreglass is badly cracked where the bonnet pin mounts to the bonnet. Is this normal?

I finally got the oil filter cover loose the other day, with a cheater pipe and a large prybar. Of course the gaskets for the oil cooler sandwich plate are VX specific so I can't get them at the local stealer.

Got some little O-rings for the bleed screws, and 7L of coolant, so at least I can get that finished. Main thing I need to concentrate on now is the suspension. That is the biggest thing that needs to be done before the clams go on.

Well the bonnet pin was rusted solid and tore out what was left of the fiberglass. :beat: The body shop is going to make up a metal plate to mount it on. :tt: So now I need to order a new bonnet pin assembly. The rear one looked brand new?

I bought the complete bonnet pin assembly components for a quite reasonable £20 from the dealer several years ago, but lotus will be cheaper :) as for the size of the mafiamobile's boot :o

Are you blocking me? You replied to my post but not my pm. ;)

Cheers. Good thought going to Lotus. However, I can't get the oil cooler sandwich plate gaskets from them so it will probbaly be easier to just order it all from Autovaux. Speaking of which, my new coolant cap was $15 trade from the stealer!

Well, as Vocky hinted a lot of progress today. Huge Imnotworthy to Vocky again, he did most of the work. :P As you can see from the pics below the rear clam and bootlid are on! From one side it kinda looks like a one of those things you see driving down the road now and then, you know, carrying people.

You can also see that all of the new wheels are on. What is significant about this is that the new wheels were put on as the Sachs coilovers were installed, new HCBs, and the wishbone bushes tightened up. Vocky also got the caster shims in, so the suspension is done! thumbsup

The splodge is still setting on the rear mesh. Another thing that Vocky did a great job on. chinky chinky

You would think that would make it easier to find bits in the pile at this stage. :beat:

I see you have black centre caps with the wheels. I have black TDs with silver centre caps so if you fancy a swap I would be happy :D

Hmmm. Thanks, but I think that I'll keep them for now.

They do 2 versions of the black ones at least. Black with black stickers in the centre, and black with silver stickers. Or is that what you mean by silver ones?

Big thanks to Sticky for a pristine gasket for the aerial! chinky chinky Have now test fitted the roll bar cover and the soft top. It all lines up with the windscreen! :jump: So that is the major panel alignment concern covered. thumbsup Got some foam draft excluder tape stuff from Focus for the top of the rollbar. So I can now install the rollbar cover permanently. Hope to do that this weekend, sort out the steering column, install steering wheel and airbag, install rear parcel shelf and seatbelts, and then I can reboot the car with the ABS and alarm control units connected. Then everything but the front and rear lights will be connected and powered up. thumbsup Then I will get the windscreen done. Getting the surround painted calypso first. Then with Vocky's help plan to do the front clam and doors later this month. It will be very close to done at that point! (And still weeks from IVA  )
